Turkey’s central bank unexpectedly raised its one-week repurchase and overnight lending rates for the first time in almost three years, after the lira’s plunge and its impact on inflation trumped political demands for lower borrowing costs. The currency gained against the dollar.

A ship launching ceremony in Tuzla, east of Istanbul has taken place on Nov.13. Among the ships to launched, there were giants that are 300 meters in length and 50 meters in width. Not only their size, but their functions matter too, as they will be carrying the Turkish miracle to far seas. They are the floating power plants produced by Karadeniz Holding. They call them the “Friend Ship” or “Power Ship”. They are power plants that have the capacity to illuminate cities.

Global investors who have contributed to the Turkish economy should have no doubts about trusting in it, Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said Thursday, touting the strong political power and stability of the nation’s administration. Speaking to the Ninth Investment Advisory Council meeting in Istanbul, Yildirim said there is no such thing as a "foreign” investor in Turkey, but only entrepreneurs.

HSBC has exited 17 to 18 countries and territories. In some countries, [HSBC] no longer provides private banking services. In Turkey, we have been through a restructuring process. The Law on Supporting Investments on Project Basis and Amending Certain Laws and Decree Laws (Law No. 6745), which seeks to improve Turkey’s investment climate through a project-based investment incentives package, entered into force following its publication in the Official Gazette on September 7, 2016. The new law, which contains 82 articles, was drafted to facilitate Turkey's achievement of its long-term macroeconomic targets. Some of those targets include increasing its share in global trade, ensuring the security of supply, encouraging investors to conduct business in Turkey.

IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, provided over $800 million to support 22 climate-smart investment projects in Europe and Central Asia in fiscal year 2016, helping its clients improve resource and energy efficiency, expand sustainable urban infrastructure, and increase access to renewable energy. IFC said in a press release that over $220 million of the total was invested in green buildings projects in Turkey, Bulgaria and Georgia, helping to reduce water, heat and energy consumption and losses in commercial buildings. About $240 million was directed to renewable energy projects in Turkey and Armenia

Nearly 200 Turkish companies have invested in the United Kingdom in recent years, said British Ambassador to Turkey. Richard Moore’s remarks came at the 7th U.K.-Turkey Business Forum in Istanbul held by the Turkish-British Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Turkish Prime Ministry’s Investment Support and Promotion Agency, and the Foreign Economic Relations Board. Moore praised the friendly relations between the two countries, saying the British government regarded Turkey “very positively” in terms of trade volume and investments.

Turkey’s top business organization has said it will establish a Turkish-Arabic Chamber through a deal with the Union of Arab Chambers (UAC), in a bid to further boost economic and trade ties with the region. The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) will sign the deal with the UAC, which has a total of 22 members representing an economy worth $2.7 trillion in total, at a ceremony in Istanbul on Nov. 24, according to a TOBB statement on Nov. 20.

Turkey's first licensed solar energy power plant, Solentegre GES, owned by Akfen Holding AS, began operating on Monday, according to the company's announcement. The plant, with 8 megawatts (MW) of installed capacity, is located in the city of Elazig in Eastern Anatolia. The plant plans to generate 15.7 gigawatts hours of electricity annually.

Turkish Development Minister Lutfi Elvan said Tuesday that Turkish contractors were keen to bring their experiences to Kuwait’s $150 billion mega projects in the next five years. The minister’s remarks came at a meeting with his Kuwaiti counterpart, Hind Subaih Barrak Al-Subaih. Kuwait is planning to complete within a five-year development plan 523 projects that are worth around $150 billion.
