Jourdanton council approves water agreement with Nueces River Authority

During its regular meeting April 6, the Jourdanton City Council approved a short-term option contract with the Nueces River Authority (NRA) aimed at securing potential future water supply. The agreement gives the city the option to secure up to 560.07 acre-feet per year of potable water if a proposed seawater desalination project as Harbor Island becomes operational. The contract does not obligate the city to purchase water but preserves its ability to negotiate a future supply agreement.

The Texas oil and natural gas industry has a solution to help with Texas’ water crisis, Texas Railroad Commission Chairman Jim Wright says. During his tenure, the Railroad Commission issued a framework for a pilot program using recycled produced water. Texas oil and natural gas companies in the Permian Basin are producing 5.5 million barrels of oil a day and 25 million barrels of water used to pump it. There are 42 gallons in a barrel.

RUPTURED SEWER MAIN CAUSES SANITARY SEWER OUTFLOW AT TRINITY RIVER AUTHORITY WASTEWATER TREATMENT FACILITY

The Trinity River Authority Denton Creek Regional Wastewater System treatment plant experienced an outflow in its collection system; the outflow, which exceeded 100,000 gallons was identified Monday, April 6 at 9:30 a.m.  It occurred due to a rupture in a 20-inch wastewater force main, a pipeline that transports wastewater, located near 1520 West Kirkwood Boulevard in Southlake. The outflow will not affect service to any of the facility’s customers.
