As a global leader in the hospitality industry, Accor is pleased to share its perspective on the top wellness trends for 2025. These insights highlight the key advancements that will shape the wellness industry in the year ahead.
Key takeaways
Evidence-based wellness over fads: In 2025, consumers will increasingly reject biohacking fads, quick fixes, and the "health washing" prevalent on social media. Frustrated by unreliable information, they will turn to credible, evidence-based wellness solutions over influencer-driven trends;
Active wellness travel: Wellness travel is shifting from passive relaxation to more active, athletic experiences. Post-pandemic, there's a growing demand for outdoor and sports-based activities such as cycling trips, hiking adventures and high-intensity challenges;
Focus on brain health: With longer life expectancies, brain health is now a top priority for consumers of all ages, from 25 to 75. People are looking for ways to improve cognitive function and mental clarity, making brain fitness a central aspect of the wellness movement.

In recent years, particularly since the COVID-19 pandemic, the travel industry has experienced a significant shift toward prioritizing health and well-being, leading to a boom in wellness tourism, a niche market centered on holistic health experiences while traveling. Many adopted healthier routines focused on diet, exercise, and mindfulness, often in lieu of travel, which was severely restricted across the globe. This shift directed their attention inward, prioritizing personal well-being over external environments.
As the travel industry rapidly recovers, decisions are increasingly influenced not just by destinations but also by expectations for unique wellness experiences, including spa and fitness offerings, meditation, reconnecting with nature, and nutritious food and beverages, and businesses across the travel industry are taking notice.
This trend is especially relevant for the accommodation sector, where wellness travel choices depend heavily on available facilities. However, it also extends across the entire travel ecosystem, as unique experiences, many of which incorporate wellness elements, and sustainable and eco-travel grow in importance. This emphasis on reconnecting with nature has intensified following the COVID-19 pandemic and the easing of travel restrictions.

"Travelers are ‘rewriting their playbook’ in 2025; Defying the rules of conventional getaways, and as a result, forging new connections with themselves, their loved ones, those they meet along the way, as well as the destinations they visit. Whether rewriting the norms of age, gender, or simply what society thinks travel should look like for them, emboldened travelers are breaking out of familiar patterns and using their individual journeys to fuel and find long-lasting personal growth. To understand out how people plan to break away from the status quo, Booking.com commissioned research among more than 27,000 travelers across 33 countries and territories to present nine travel predictions which foresee 2025 being the year that ushers in new ways of experiencing the world – from millennials rethinking the airport experience to thrill-seeking boomers."

The gastronomic industry is undergoing a revolution, as entrepreneurs redefine how food businesses operate by intertwining culinary art with social impact. Instead of merely serving delicious meals, pioneers like The Melting Pot Foundation, Thought for Food, and Comida para Todos have transformed restaurants and food systems into platforms for community empowerment, social responsibility, and innovation. We had the pleasure to host the entrepreneurs behind these ventures for a panel discussion at EHL Hospitality Business School and they demonstrated that food businesses can be more than profit-driven; they can become vehicles for meaningful change.

Recent Google UK search data shows that city breaks and beach vacations are the most sought-after types of holidays over the next six months, with many travelers seeking indulgent luxury experiences.
Key takeaways
While travelers are increasingly focused on value in their vacations, this doesn't necessarily mean they are prioritizing the cheapest options; Google predicts a significant increase in European tourism by 2025, with vacation spending expected to grow by approximately 37% by 2027; Globally, resort spending is expected to increase by around 22% over the same period.

Most of us will have a story to tell about a journey gone wrong.
Perhaps a delayed flight led to a missed car rental pick-up, or an overnight cancellation left us paying for an unused hotel room. Sometimes it can seem as if these frustrations are almost part of the travel experience – but does it have to be this way?
Many of the issues we face when we travel come down to a lack of connectivity among travel providers, with privacy concerns, limited technical interoperability and siloed data having proved a challenge to overcome. As a result, many travel providers continue to focus on a specific section of a trip at the expense of the whole traveler journey.
But things can be different. If we are able to connect each section of the journey, we can build a cohesive journey, offering full visibility to all parties. This world is within reach.

Decarbonization is a critical response to climate change. It comprises two elements: first, reducing the amount of CO2 and other greenhouse gases that are released into the atmosphere, and second, actively removing CO2 from the atmosphere, whether at the point of emissions (point source capture) or from the air (direct air capture, or DAC).
But how does decarbonization work more broadly, and what can companies do to contribute meaningfully to carbon reduction and removal? In this Explainer, we’ll delve into the financial and technical approaches used to limit and remove the carbon in our atmosphere.
