I've been using Skitch for years on my Mac and it is one of the most user friendly and useful screen / image grab applications. It's now available for Windows users too, so you might want to chek it out. It also integrates with Evernote, so that's another good reason to use it.

Anything Evernote is on every one of my devices! Skitch is an ever-evolving app that I have used for may different reasons.

My students love to use Skitch on their iPads. They make quizzes for each other with it. Then they save everything with Evernote for their digital portfolios.

This free tool allows you to capture all or part of your Mac screen as video and add text notes and mouse highlighting. Very useful for creating tutorial videos and website tours and reviews. It doesn't capture audio though.

For those of you who don't know about SpellingCity, the website enables learners or teachers to enter a word list and then automatically generate a range of interactive multimedia activities based around the words. The site automatically adds audio recordings of the words and example sentences to the activities it generates. There is a great range of activities that students can do within the site and they can generate certificates for their teacher or parent to prove they have done their homework.

This is a great writing tool for creating interactive (branching) stories. Readers can choose different options as the work through the story and find their own route through the materials.

This is a very interesting tool for analysing text and word frequency in text. It enables you to create your own mini corpus and see how words are used in context.

This tool allows you to easily export the concordance lines into a text file. Provided the text was either online or in a text file, it also makes identifying vocabulary words in texts easier. As a corpus tool on the web, I find the option of being able to upload multiple texts into the corpus one of the benefits of the site. But this tool is still in Beta mode, so there may still be some kinks with it that need worked out.
