Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick is scheduled to testify before the House Oversight Committee on May 6 regarding his past association with Jeffrey Epstein. Lutnick has denied any wrongdoing but faces questions about a 2012 lunch he attended with Epstein on his private Caribbean island, Little St. James. This lunch took place more than four years after Epstein pleaded guilty to soliciting an underage girl for prostitution. Lutnick previously claimed he cut ties with Epstein in 2005 after a disturbing comment, but recently released files indicated continued contact. His admission to the 2012 lunch drew criticism from Republican representatives, and Lutnick’s name was also included in a spoof “Walk of Shame” installation in Washington, D.C., last month, which laid out pavement stars for famous people embarrassed over their past ties to Epstein.
