background blur - Panasonic GM5 In-depth Review

background blur - Panasonic GM5 In-depth Review | Mirrorless Cameras | Scoop.it

That's it. Panasonic did it. They saved Micro Four Thirds in my book. They restored the format to its true calling: ultra-compact and ultra-high quality. I could not be happier with this little camera. The industry is throwing a lot of small cameras at us with various highlights, e.g. the RX100, the X100, the LX100, etc... But only the GM5 stands out for me, because of the viewfinder, and because it offers two compact lens types I really need and love: the 20/1.7 pancake and a compact, collapsible tele lens.

Robin Wong: Matti Sulanto from Finland

Robin Wong: Matti Sulanto from Finland | Mirrorless Cameras | Scoop.it
I had a visitor from Finland this morning joining me for shutter therapy, Matti Sulanto. I think this is probably the first time I have met anyone from Finland! Matti has got quite a story to tell in his photography journey, he has started decades ago in professional photography in the film era, moving on to the digital age, using many different formats. Previously he was using Nikon full frame system which he has since then switched fully to Olympus. The turning point was the introduction of electronic viewfinder that worked so well, changing the way he shoots, having the "what you see is what you get capabilities". He has never looked back, while he still flirted with other brands such as Fuji (which he did for a year), he found himself coming back to the Olympus OM-D system. His reasons: the camera that is so reliable, and yet small and light, producing image output that is more than good enough for everything that he does. Also, he commented that the current OM-D E-M1 is a camera that can do anything!

Thank you for the very thorough review. I've owned the A6000 with the 16-17mm lens for several months. I think you have very fairly reviewed the camera's "plus" and "minus" attributes. Thank you for taking the time to do the review!

LX100 vs. GX7 Sharpness Comparison Test | Digital Camera Finder

LX100 vs. GX7 Sharpness Comparison Test | Digital Camera Finder | Mirrorless Cameras | Scoop.it

The surprising conclusion is, therefore, that the LX100’s lens is as sharp, if not even a bit sharper than the Lumix 20mm f/1.7. I can extrapolate that it’s also sharper than the Lumix 14-42mm kit lens, not to mention that it has the clear benefit of much larger max apertures, giving it a two stops advantage over the 14-42mm all the way.
