I should, at the very outset of this post acknowledge that yes, this is yet another DSLR to Mirrorless piece. I know that the interweb is full of such posts so I can't honestly say that the next few paragraphs will be entirely unique … but it is my own viewpoint, and it is based on personal experience.
Six months ago I decided to move from using DSLR to mirrorless cameras, specifically the Fujifilm X-T1. The reason for doing so was purely down to my health. My full frame Canon cameras (I

I was chatting to good friend and fellow photographer Paul Griffiths over a coffee one evening in London and we were discussing the place of mirrorless cameras in the world. We both fully agree that all cameras have their place. We aren't foolish enough to believe that DSLR's are dead at all and they are the champions of sports photography and some other niche's too, but it's also no secret that both Paul and I are big fans of Mirrorless. One thing we also agree on is that they have manag

In the late 2000s a new segment formed in the photography industry. This segment goes by many names, but the most common nowadays is “Mirrorless”. These cameras fall between the generic point and shoot cameras and the professional full frame DSLR systems. So what is Mirrorless all about? The first mirrorless cameras came out with …

A few weeks ago, I got my hands again on my very first mirrorless camera. Not one like it, mind you, exactly the same. A white Olympus Pen E-PL2. I couldn't have known it at the time, some three and a half years ago, but this camera signaled the beginning of my personal mirrorless journey.

In the last few months I've been reading a lot of blogs and reviews on the Fuji X100T, and there is this thing they all seem to imply, "The X100T isn't really worth the upgrade if you already own the X100s." So I borrowed the X100s for awhile and here is what I've found.

I'm one of those unfortunate people who have a birthday in January. For years I've cursed this as everyone is still hungover from Christmas, and frankly don't want to be concerned with such frivolity. Being a photographer has slowly changed my opinion of January, and winter as a whole. Instead of seeing endless days of cold weather, I see limitless opportunities for frosty landscapes and those cool, blue tones as the sun hangs forever low in the sky. I've always been in love with the sprin
