Whatever someone says about you actually has nothing to do with you, especially if comes from someone trying to talk negativity about you or as therapist would say, coming from your Lower Self, Little One, or Wounded Child. Whatever is said about you, has 100% to do with the person saying it, and nothing to do with you. So don't get all worked up over people talking smack about you, it really has nothing to do with YOU and it's all about them! Get more parenting tips at Maya4Life.com

Why Are We Divided? Google and Facebook Personalize Your Search Results To Only Reflect Your Opinion

Why are we so divided as a country? Google and Facebook started using cookies and the affinity algorithm in the early 90s to only show you search results and articles you would like and agree with. It meant you had a more positive opinion of their platform and would spend more time on it. The downside was your own opinion become more and more reinforced in an echo chamber of likeminded people. A vicious feedback loop was created so that you felt everything you saw agreed with your opinion and the whole world had your point of view. Curt Dalton talks at Maya4Life.com to teens about how to see internal validation and avoid this negative feedback loop.

LeBron James, All-Star Basketball Player, Bench-Warmer Dad - Not Letting Your Kid Fail is a Mistake

Summary
LeBron James and his son Bronny are facing criticism from a parenting perspective. LeBron's goal of having his son play on the Lakers and be the first father-son duo in the NBA may overshadow his fatherly instincts. This could set Bronny up for failure and make him the butt of jokes and memes. LeBron's influence and nepotism in getting his son on the Lakers may not be in Bronny's best interest. It's important for fathers to let their children fail and find their own path in life.

Takeaways
LeBron James' goal of having his son play on the Lakers and be the first father-son duo in the NBA may overshadow his fatherly instincts.
Bronny James may be set up for failure and become the butt of jokes and memes due to his father's influence and nepotism.
It's important for fathers to let their children fail and find their own path in life.
LeBron's actions may not be in Bronny's best interest and could hinder his personal growth and journey.

Sound Bites
"I don't question that LeBron loves his son very much, but I do question whether LeBron's goals of being the first father-son to play season overshadowing his fatherly best instincts."
"As a father, I think a lot of fathers around the country are cringing because you're setting your son up to fail."
"This crosses a line that I think is hurting his son. In a sense, making his son a joke, the butt of jokes, memes."

04:39 The Impact on Bronny's Happiness and Well-being

Curt Dalton of Maya4Life talks about LeBron James decision to "help" his son Bronny James, get into the NBA by "forcing" the Lakers to draft him, then giving him a guaranteed 2-year, $8 million contract. LeBron's loves his son, but his biggest mistake was not letting his son fail or live out his own path, now setting him up failure of a greater magnitude later. We love our kids so much and try to protect them, sometimes "our" goals and ideals for our kids get in the way of their path. LeBron's desire to be the first NBA player in history to play with his son could cause his now 19-year old son to be the butt of jokes, disparaged by thousand of fans and players, and will now tarnish his future moment of being the first person to play in the NBA with his son. By not letting Bronny fail and teaching how to recover from that, LeBron did a disservice to his son, instead putting his on ego goals ahead of what was best for his son as a sentient human being on this earth. Not letting your kids fail sets them up for bigger pain and loss later in life when they eventually need to learn to pick themselves up. Maya4Life.com helps teens build self-esteem and internal valuation metrics, as opposed to external validation from things such as money, fame, and social media adoration.

The conversation focuses on the dangers of alcohol and the societal pressure to drink. Curt emphasizes that alcohol is an insidious drug that comes in through the front door with the blessing of trusted adults.
