System of Rice Intensification and minimum use of fertilizers wre noted as contributing to the high yield. Removal of weeds using cono weeder and proper spacing between tillers provided air circulation in the field, thereby increasing the number of tillers from each plant.
Fifty-year-old Kavita Devi watched a series of Digital Green videos last summer on SRI and got the confidence to lease land and plant her own rice. Until July, she had only worked on other people’s farms in exchange for ten pounds of rice.

Digital Green has a huge library of SRI instructional videos in various local languages in India. They are all accessible on YouTube and on the Digital Green website.
In practice, small-scale farmers benefit most from technologies that suite their resource conditions, and build on or enhance their knowledge.... Perhaps SRI provides an opportunity to bring about the revolution in rice that is actually green...
