Hackers Hit Symantec, ImageShack, But Not PayPal | ICT Security-Sécurité PC et Internet | Scoop.it

Tip: watch the end of the article where you can find a link for using search engines such as Google and Bing to identify vulnerabilities in your applications, systems and services--and to fix them before they can be exploited. (Free registration required.)

Increasingly, malware creators are moving from stealing information from text files and key-logging into the audio-visual realm.

Recently this has spread to Android phones via a new threat called PlaceRaider, which can secretly take photos or video every few seconds without the owner ever noticing.

===> Combined with information from a smartphone’s GPS system and accelerometer sensors, the visual data can be assembled into a three-dimensional map of the phone's surroundings. <===

Cyber attacks a threat to internet efficiency

Cyber attacks a threat to internet efficiency | ICT Security-Sécurité PC et Internet | Scoop.it

On 4 November, Neelie Kroes Commissioner responsible for the Digital Agenda stressed the threat of cyber-security hacking for the efficiency of Internet Services. “Incidents (also linked to human mistakes) and attacks are clearly on the rise…the number of web based attacks went up 36% in the year 2011.”

During his speech in the Information Security Forum Conference in Chicago, Kroes urged for bringing cyber security in the top of the political agenda. Acknowledging that most of the cyber networks and infrastructures are privately owned, the Commissioner recognised the limited role of the public authorities.
