Henrik Safegaard - Cloneartist's insight:
Playing a manipulative character is kind of a minefield because you wind up falling into one of two traps. The first possibility is that you wind up not being very good at it because you aren't very manipulative. This isn't a mark against you, as none of the hallmarks of manipulation is thought of as a positive trait, but it does make your portrayal somewhat suspect. Click to read the full article.

First came the 3D-printed gun and 3-D printed internal organs. Now, better late than never: the 3D-printed engagement ring -- or pearl pendant, or diamond necklace, or really any piece of jewelry you can fathom
Henrik Safegaard - Cloneartist's insight:
It’s taken the fashion and accessories industries a little longer than others to cotton on to 3D printing, the disruptive technology changing manufacturing and medicine. Now, though, alongside the 3D-printed gun and 3-D printed internal organscomes the 3D-printed engagement ring — or pearl pendant, or diamond necklace, or really any piece of jewelry you can fathom. Check it out :-)
Does any name in film history carry such vivid associations with the western as John Wayne’s? Maybe Sergio Leone, Italian director of the Clint Eastwood-starring 'Man with No Name' trilogy, comes in second.

30 years have passed since Bruce Wayne survived Skynet's nuclear blasts in August of '97. Iron demons now roam the planet, and without the requirement to defend the innocent against crime and injustice, Wayne has seeked refuge in the bomb shelter that saved his life; the Batcave.

Henrik Safegaard - Cloneartist's insight:
Welcome to the first article in Art House, a series detailing the evolution of art house films, and their impact on the relationship between art and cinema. The term art house refers to films that are artistic or experimental in nature, and are generally not part of the commercial mainstream. It is interesting to note that unlike many other forms of avant-garde, filmic avant-garde does not typically generate the profits earned by its musical, visual, and literary counterparts. Jan Lachauer and Max Lang: Room on the Broom is a story of change and company. More and more characters join the well-balanced team of Witch and Cat on their magic broom. With each new member, their journey gets harder and harder. But in the end it turns out that even if it’s harder to travel together, there are obstacles that you don’t want to face alone. Even if you are much faster on your own, you get much further as a group. And it’s not the size of the broom that should define a group, but the size of the group that should define a broom. Together they create a world where no one gets left behind. Click to read more and watch production videos.
Reidsville, North Carolina-based artist Brad Spencer works with bricks to produce eye-catching, figurative sculptures. Each piece of work in the sculptor's growing collection is an intriguing look at a common medium used in an unconventional way. Via Annie Brightstar
Henrik Safegaard - Cloneartist's insight:
Many of the sculptor's works play with the material's architectural use, referencing its conventional purpose by inserting a wall or some sort of rectangular public divider. From these basic structures emerge Spencer's three-dimensional figures. The artist uses a relief technique, working with unfired clay first to carve his figures in a brickwork pattern. He then proceeds to fire the pieces individually and assemble the bricks on the site of its display. Click to watch gallery.

The 2007 animated short “A Bicycle Trip” recounts the fateful day in 1943 that Swiss chemist Albert Hofmann ingested a chemical compound he had synthesized—lysergic acid diethylamide, or LSD—thus becoming the first person to intentionally experience an acid trip (he had accidentally dosed himself with acid a few days prior). The animation was created by Lorenzo Veracini, Nandini Nambiar, and Marco Avoletta. Click to watch it.

Henrik Safegaard - Cloneartist's insight:
Although you can correct a lot of exposure errors in Photoshop, particularly using raw format files, it’s still better to get the results right in-camera as much as possible. Even when converting raw images, there is a limit to how much highlight detail you can recover if you over-expose your images. While it’s often possible to boost the detail in the shadows of an under-exposed shot, the result will be noisier and lower quality than if you correctly exposed it in the first place. Heroes is back. The show will return to NBC in 2015 as Heroes Reborn, with original series creator Tim Kring back at the helm as showrunner. The 13-episode event miniseries will star a new cast of characters and follow a story line independent from the show's original 4-season run (though NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke said former cast members would likely "pop" in for cameos.)

Inspired by a true story, WALKING WITH THE ENEMY is an unforgettable film of love, courage, and sacrifice. Set in Hungary during the final months of World War ll, a young man sets out to find his displaced family by stealing a Nazi uniform to pose as an officer. Filled with suspense and danger, he undertakes extraordinary measures to reroute his family and other Jews to safety by disrupting the activities of the German occupiers.
Chrome/Firefox: Ever hate how when you first open a GIF, it loads super slowly with choppy animation? It kind of ruins the GIF experience. But GIF Delayer is an easy fix that stops the animation from playing till the image is completely loaded.
Henrik Safegaard - Cloneartist's insight:
The extension, available for Chrome and Firefox, does exactly what it says: your GIF animations will be delayed so that they play properly the first time you see them.

Henrik Safegaard - Cloneartist's insight:
It's the question that most animation professionals ask immediately after they've seenGet A Horse! How did Walt Disney Animation Studios actually pull that short off? How'd they first replicate the exact look and feel of a Mickey Mouse cartoon of late 1928 / early 1929 and then (SPOILER AHEAD) send a CG version of Mickey and Horace Horsecollar hurtling out through the screen into today's world? Well, director Lauren MacMullan and producer Dorothy McKim were obviously working with a talented team at WDAS. But a key player on this project was animation legend Eric Goldberg. Click to Watch. |

Eliot Lefebvre has another great post about how to RP a manipulative character. [The more I read Eliot's tracks, the more I want to RP with him!]
Here's my fav quote:
"You aren't manipulating John; you're manipulating John's character. And you're not even doing that. Your character is manipulating John's character. [Good OOC communication] slides in like a security blanket, giving the sense to John that he's still in control, that the manipulation is essentially so much window-dressing."
