The book to accompany the exhibition UN/SICHTBAR - Frauen Überleben Säure, State Museum for Ethnology in Munich, 6 June 2014 – 11 January 2015Committed photographer Ann-Christine Woehrl took her camera and accompanied women survivors of acid and arson attacks in Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Nepal, Pakistan, and Uganda. Her sensitive portraits ask the viewer to recognize these women, who have been excluded and thus made invisible, as individuals beyond their collective stigma.
