3 ways VR helps science education

Olivia Luxford's curator insight, May 31, 2021 5:19 AM
Virtual Reality (VR) offers an active experience that promotes student engagement and deeper learning. It inspires students' creativity and motivates them to explore new academic interests. Furthermore, VR can be used to foster empathy and cultural competence in our students. An example of using VR in a science lesson would be to understand the respiratory system. Using 3D and 360 degree VR explanations, students will understand that whilst breathing many gaseous exchanges are occurring in the lungs. For example, visuals of how glucose is broken down to produce carbon dioxide and water. During this process energy is released which is captured by the ATP molecule. Understanding the respiratory system through VR will help the student to remember and recall information.
