We live in a digital and mobile world where Google, the Internet and mobile technologies have disrupted traditional classroom learning and requirements for immediate recall.
There has long been a debate among educators regarding whether or not integrating technologies into the classroom will actually aid in the learning process and increase student achievement. Some educators believe it is worth the time and the effort to integrate technology into the classroom because when used correctly, they will have a positive impact on student learning as well as an increase in student achievement.
I believe that using technology in the classroom will create a more positive and more exciting learning environment and students will be more enthusiastic and open to new ideas using technology. By integrating technology into classroom activities, the students will be having more fun while they are learning, they will be more engaged in the lessons and activities and they will be much more motivated to learn the material. However, on the other hand, many educators believe that implementing the use of technology in the classrooms will cause more of a disruption than to increase their achievement. These devices provide the students with so many ways of becoming distracted that they are unable to resist using them in ways that are inappropriate during class time.
In conclusion, even though technology has been widely accepted in many aspects of people’s lives, there is still a debate of whether or not it should integrate it into the classroom. It is the belief of some that having technology in the classroom will cause the students to become distracted and that the pieces of technology will cause the student’s achievement to decrease. Personally, I find that technology can positively impact student achievement as long as they are used appropriately.
