(Medical Xpress) -- A rare genetic variant that appears to be directly and causally linked to multiple sclerosis (MS) has been identified by Oxford University researchers.
The researchers then looked for the rare gene variant in over 3,000 families of unaffected parents with a child with MS. They found 35 parents who carried one copy of this variant along with one normal copy. In every one of these 35 cases, the child with MS had inherited the mutated version of the gene.
The likelihood of this gene’s transmission being unconnected to the MS is billions to one against, the researchers say.
The very strong implication is that in these particular cases of MS, low vitamin D levels are directly connected to the disease.
The researchers believe there are wider implications of this finding. They suggest that low levels of vitamin D are likely to play a role in MS more generally.

The European Food Safety Authority, EFSA, has recently announced that they will again review the safety of aspartame, a controversial artificial sweetener that is a combination of two isolated amino acids and methanol. This new review comes after the agency whitewashed and glossed over the studies of the Italian Ramazzini Cancer research institute that had shown aspartame to be a carcinogen.
Aspartame's approval by the US FDA in the 1980s, says Betty Martini of Mission Possible World Health International, was a political decision, taken over the objection of the FDA's own scientific panel. Studies used to obtain approval were sanitized, to hide damaging effects the sweetener had on laboratory animals and eventually, Donald Rumsfeld was brought in to push through the approval.

My comment:
It seems that the only way a vaccine will "work", which means will produce a body defense reaction, is when those vaccines contain some toxic substance. In pharma parlance that toxic substance is called an "adjuvant", meaning a substance added to help the vaccine work. What does that tell us about the effectiveness of the vaccines themselves?
Evidence-based medicine (EBM) is the practice of treating individual patients based on the outcomes of huge medical trials. It is, currently the self-proclaimed gold standard for medical decision-making, and yet it is increasingly unpopular with clinicians. Their reservations reflect an intuitive understanding that something is wrong with its methodology. They are right to think this, for EBM breaks the laws of so many disciplines that it should not even be considered scientific. Indeed, from the viewpoint of a rational patient, the whole edifice is crumbling.
The assumption that EBM is good science is unsound from the start. Decision science and cybernetics (the science of communication and control) highlight the disturbing consequences. EBM fosters marginally effective treatments, based on population averages rather than individual need. Its mega-trials are incapable of finding the causes of disease, even for the most diligent medical researchers, yet they swallow up research funds. Worse, EBM cannot avoid exposing patients to health risks.

Information given to doctors about the 200-year history of vaccination is limited to carefully selected sound-bites that pre-empt any concerns. We were led to believe that vaccines are solely responsible for the eradication of infectious diseases such as smallpox. Most accepted, without question or personal study, that vaccines greatly reduced illnesses and are a benefit to overall human health. Few know that the mortality for “vaccine preventable diseases” had massively declined before the vaccine campaigns began. But it is painfully obvious from figure 1 (at end of document)[2] that the mortality for the major infectious diseases, including those for which no vaccines were ever created, had regressed to nearly undetectable levels in the population – long before vaccines were introduced.
Patients with acute and chronic illnesses are target groups to be heavily vaccinated even though vaccines have barely been tested for safety or long-term consequences in these populations. Most doctors and patients assume that vaccines are simply a solution of sterile saline and “dead” microorganisms. They are not aware of the manufacturing process to make a vaccine, the contents in the vial, or the potential risks of each component. Doctors wrongly assume that vaccines “protect” their patients from disease, without any adverse consequences on their health, and that vaccinated people won’t get that disease.

Research from health pioneer (and former ANH-USA board member) Dr. Paul G. Sixth study in recent months links mercury in flu shots to brain damage, autism The toxic effects of the mercury, also known in vaccines as Thimerosal, have once again been confirmed, this time by researchers from the University of Brazil.

It's well known that conflicts of interest abound in the FDA and USDA, but Big Agra and Big Pharma also have some ties that you may not be aware of.

There is a surprising reason why the government won’t go after drug companies for serious crimes.
Last week the Department of Justice announced that Merck has agreed to pay a $321 million criminal fine and plead guilty to one misdemeanor count of illegally introducing a drug into interstate commerce. Merck also is paying $426 million to the federal government and $202 million to state Medicaid agencies. Those payments will settle civil claims that its marketing caused doctors to prescribe and bill the government for Vioxx they otherwise would not have prescribed.
Please note that these settlements are for rather minor infractions—not for deliberately concealing the danger of a killing drug from patients, the medical community, and their investors. Despite the serious consequences of Merck’s actions, the government won’t prosecute them for any serious charges—because, if they did and won, it would mean they would have to stop doing business with Merck in the future! Federal law makes it illegal for Medicare and Medicaid to do business with “an excluded or debarred entity resulting from serious criminal charges.”
This means that when a company becomes too deeply enmeshed in the government’s business, these companies simply become too big to prosecute!

There is almost nothing at all that has been peer-reviewed published on the topic and that is the result of very specific regulatory decisions taken concerning GM foods. I will say again, there are hardly a handful of articles in the peer-reviewed literature looking at the health effects of any given GM food, let alone the incredibly complex issue in general.
As noted in the book, this is due to a curious decision by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulators to declare a-priori, and over the objection of FDA scientists, that GM foods are “substantially equivalent” to non genetically modified foods and thus can be released without any oversight, studies or regulation. The terrible absurdity of this position (and why there are no studies on the health effects of these new organisms) takes a moment to sink in and requires departure from the book review for a brief moment.
Later that day, I sat on a panel of four experts to answer questions from conference attendees. Many of the questions were directed at the PhD immunologist on the panel, asking if the statements I had made in the morning presentation were true. To my surprise, the immunologist confirmed every assertion I had made.
The first was that it is pointless to administer drugs intended to stimulate antibody production to babies who are too young to produce antibodies. Infants in their first year mostly depend on generalized, non-specific immunity, including (hopefully) immunoglobulins from breast milk, to protect their young bodies from infection. Opponents of marijuana legalization often suggest that legalization would lead to an increased number of vehicle accidents.
However, a new study from the Institute for the Study of Labor finds that states that legalized medical marijuana have seen a decline in traffic fatalities, the “leading cause of death for Americans age 35 and under.” According to researchers, states in which medical marijuana is legal saw a decline in alcohol use which, in turn, helped lower the number of traffic fatalities. “Specifically, we find that traffic fatalities fall by nearly 9 percent after the legalization of medical marijuana,” they said.
