Did you simply hop over there, look around, decide it doesn't look like the Social Networks sites you are used to, and seemed a bit overwhelming or perhaps even like a ghost town and so you decided to go back to your comfort zone? Well if that sounds like you - as we head into 2014 - it’s time to take action and take another look!
There is no denying that Google has redefined the way we see and use the Internet in recent years. From Search, to YouTube, Google+, and Adsense, many of the company's products and properties have become part of our daily lives.
After you feel like you have a strong grasp on what Google+ communities need in order to thrive, if you want to take a shot at starting your own, there are some best practices you can follow in order to maximize its odds of success.
The first is to be as focused as possible. While broad may seem like it will appeal to more members, you’re going to have a much more active community if it’s on a highly focused topic that really interests the people who join...
“Here’s my question: You say you want to fish where the fish are and to that I ask: is Google a big enough sea for you? Because that’s where people go when they want to buy something.
Google Plus… Some find it fun, some find it a big PITA. No matter what you feel about it, there’s no denying it’s good for your blog’s traffic, when used correctly.
I know this may seem very basic to most, but here’s the thing… if it really were so basic, if some of my blogging peeps weren’t doing it wrong, I would not be writing this post.
And sharing incorrectly on Google Plus is super easy because there’s way too many bloody options.
So today we’re going to look at sharing publicly vs sharing privately and the search engine and social media impact on your blog’s traffic.
Ever wondered how you look like in the eyes of the different social networks out there?
Well here's your answer...
If you want to know just how much personal information networks like Facebook, Google Plus and Twitter collect, you might want to take a look at the following infographic by +The New Yorker!
So Google+ only collects the public data from our profile, nothing else. Where Facebook collects data about religion, political views, payment transactions etc... Scary.
Even though this new feature seems to disrupt the flow of the comments inside the Event, we can't deny that this will boost the Events in all the commenters streams.
More unwanted stuff from the people you follow or a good way to see some interesting Events coming up? I wish there was a check box like in YouTube, for not sharing the comment outside the Event...
Over the last year, we’ve seen creators across music, gaming, sports, news and morecategories use the power of live video to create amazing experiences for their audiences, and build new fans.
Now, all YouTube channels that verify their account and are in good standing will be able to live stream live video to the world. We’re rolling out the feature over the next few weeks, and you can see if you have access on the YouTube account feature pageor wait for Live Events to appear in your Video Manager.

- Even if there is no huge visible interaction on a post, the click through rates are astonishing. The app collects all the clicks, also from reshares because of the bit.ly link shortener I use. I sometimes repost the good content posts and being able to do it from the app's Analytics part, the link stays the same and collects further data. Even posting / scheduling the exact same post on Facebook is possible.
1. The test was to see if G+ shares would cause crawling, indexing or ranking. The tested pages had NO links at all to them, not even from other pages on the same site. 2. We did this across 3 different web sites, all of which have been on the web for a long time and are part of viable commercial enterprises. 3. Googlebot visited the pages within 6 minutes of it being shared. 4. The pages did get indexed, but it took as long as 10 days in some cases. Remember that these pages had ZERO supporting signals, so the share was the sole factor driving the indexation. 5. There was no evidence of direct ranking impact.
It is also worth looking at this short 3 minute video extracted from the interview I did with +Danny Sullivan.
Google is integrating Google+ directly into its ecosystem, which means marketers are eventually going to have to pay attention to its social network...
It’s important to understand that the activity that you do on Google Plus will affect Google.com search results. If showing up in search results matters to your business then being on Google Plus is important.

Updates and changes, some good and some really bad. Why did the Photos team have to remove the Creative Kit photo editor first from Google+ and now from Picasa?
Couldn't the (to me useless) Snapseed thingy be used in mobile Google+ apps only?
There are still some people who actually use a camera instead of a mobile device for shooting photos. Not all have Photoshop, either... Well, back to the Gimp. Or the Pixlr. (Grumblegrumble...)
Whether you’re crunching big data or tracking your family budget, you don’t want to waste time waiting for files to load or re-doing edits that were lost because your Internet connection dropped.
You can now get more done by switching to the new version of Google Sheets. It’s faster, supports larger spreadsheets, has a number of new features, and works offline.
Whether you’re on the platform or across the web, Google+ makes your entire Google experience better. OK, so if it’s “different”, how should you think of G+?
Remember: Your public posts show also in the streams of all who have you in their circles, depending on their settings. No need to post limited unless you really don't want anyone not in your circles or outside Google+ to see your content.
Public = Everyone - who has circled you, looks at your profile, stumbles upon your content in Google+ search or elsewhere... Even if you have blocked someone they still can see your public posts when they log out of Google+, use the Chrome Incognito mode or use a business Page to check your profile.
