Ah, Google+. How wrong I was. I admit I was not a fan. At first. But you've turned my head. Six months ago, I wrote an article about the limited value...
Deep respect to Steve Martin of +Copperfox Marketing who wrote a "Google+ is useless" blog post several months ago. He was challenged by a number of G+ users who said he simply hadn't tried to use the platform effectively. To his credit, he swallowed his pride and tried out what they suggested, and lo and behold found the Google+ richness that you and I know so well.
From his new post:
Google+ is providing value. It isn’t the same as Facebook, and that’s okay. There is a community on Google+ that is alive, rich, and ready to share. The referral traffic, SEO enhancements, and auto-hashtagging are also nice benefits. I fell trap to my own impatience when I originally wrote my article in July of 2013. That is, I was kept out by the barrier-to-entry issues, namely educating myself on what it takes to excel in Google+

Enter Google +. So many people don’t get Google + and I’ll admit, I was one of them.
But I also said the same thing about Twitter for 4 years! And I finally got it. And I learned that if I stick with it, I’ll get it.

There is a new page where all your circles are displayed and you can subscribe to some or all of them. Word of warning! Do not subscribe to all of them, as each post will create a notification under +Mr. Jingles and perhaps also send an email, depending on your settings. You will very soon be inundated in notifications! To undo the subscription you must visit each circle individually and click on the bell.
I recommend you choose carefully the people you place in a subscription circle. Keep it small.

Google+ is not rocket science, although there are rocket scientists enjoying the platform. Yet each time I go on Google+ and check the stream I see people making the same type of posts that are not getting any +1, comments or shares. I challenge you to put in a little more effort and follow these simple steps to create a richer Google+ experience.
I stopped giving +1's to most of the postsInstead, I started to analyze all those posts and to think if I'd like them to be shared to all my followers. I know that Google+ doesn't share ALL of them, but I have no way of knowing which will be spread out there and which will not! So my scuba diving, golfing and gardening peeps have suffered as I've only given +1's to my main topic or Google+ related stuff.
It's common currency in internet punditry circles that Google won the battle to dominate search while Facebook won the battle for social, and that Google+ is just a failed competitor to Facebook. But Google hasn't given up.
1) Visit your Google+ profile settings page and change the ‘Who can send you notifications?’ status from ‘Anyone’ to anything you want (Extended circles, Your circles, Only you, or Custom).
Just really diving into Google+. I have to say, was originally reluctant, but the communities are fantastic and the content is relevant and abundant! If you have taken a test drive - I recommend it!
Do you have a business that is ready get the exposure it’s been looking for online? Have you taken the time to set up your Google + profile?
It may not have been a top priority to create a Google + profile when there’s already Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and tons of other social networking sites; Instagram, Vine, Pinterest, FourSquare popping up, but it’s safe to say that Google + is here to stay.
Internet is a great educational resource and there’s no doubt about it. But at the same time, it has millions of websites that could easily grab a child’s attention and mislead him/her. As we know, the number of kids who become victims of cyber crimes increases every day. Especially through the social networking sites...
- I thought I wanted that audience, and even confused it at times with relationship building. A thousand people sharing your viral meme and leaving comments like, “Hahaha too funny!” may give one an endorphin rush, but I realize now that those are not relationships or even connections. Few of those people will continue to follow the body of my work, they just want to be entertained for a moment, and they consider that my purpose...
Google's reputation and influence within the technology industry can't be understated. The company is unflinching in its desire to improve people's lives by offering accessible, empowering ...
