Cari lettori online, dicembre mi piace molto. E’un mese festoso, i negozi e i mercatini brillano di luci e addobbi di Natale, un tripudio di colori sfavillanti. Eil mese del compleanno di Gesù, delle cene in famiglia, della ricerca di qualcosa di speciale per questa altrettanto speciale ricorrenza. E soprattutto è il mese della possibilità di fare qualcosa IN PIU’ per gli altri: di occuparsi di chi è solo, malato, anziano, indigente. Non dimenticatevi mai delle persone meno fortunate di noi. De afgelopen weken heb ik heel wat spannende, lekkere en minder lekkere koffie’s geproefd. En toen was ik afgelopen week ineens toe aan een zak Sicilian Espresso Blend bonen van Kaldi. Die bonen kende ik al en vond ik altijd al lekker, maar smaak ontwikkel je, dus was de vraag of ik ze nu ook nog lekker zou vinden. Antwoord: ja, het was als thuiskomen.De Sicilian is een eigen melange van Kaldi die ze omschrijven als: “Meer dan 14 minuten roasttijd geven deze echte Italiaanse espresso zijn volle karakteristieke aroma. Een uitgebalanceerde smaak van top polished Robusta uit Vietnam en Laos en Arabica uit Brazilie en Guatamala”.

Origin The Old Italic alphabets developed from the west Greek alphabet, which came to Italy via the Greek colonies on Sicily and along the west coast of Italy. The Etruscans adapted the Greek alphabet to write Etruscan sometime during the 6th century BC, or possibly earlier. Most of the other alphabets used in Italy are thought to have derived from the Etruscan alphabet.

The main competitive section of the festival is reserved to directors making their first, second or third film and this year presents sixteen newly produced films that have not yet been presented in Italy. As always, the competition concentrates on “young” cinema and focuses primarily on searching out and discovering innovative talents that express the best contemporary trends of international independent cinema. Over the years, the festival has awarded prizes to the debut works of filmmakers like Tsai Ming-liang, David Gordon Green, Chen Kaige and Lisandro Alonso, Pietro Marcello and Debra Granik. These works belong to the cinema “of the future” and represent a variety of genres, languages and trends. Thus, documentaries will not only participate in the competition that is reserved specifically to Italian documentaries but also in the main competition.

Bij wijngebieden in Piemonte denk je waarschijnlijk al snel aan de bekende wijngebieden Barolo & Barbaresco. Uit al deze gebieden komen dan ook wereldberoemde topwijnen, en wijn uit deze streken hebben wij dan ook in ons assortiment. Maar er zijn nog veel meer interessante wijngebieden in Piemonte: Monferrato, Dogliani, Gavi…..en vooral: de Roero. Dit gebied grenst aan de Barolo en Barbaresco en er worden vergelijkbare wijnen gemaakt, van ook zeer hoog niveau. Deze worden daarbij gekenmerkt door een wat toegankelijkere stijl en een gemiddeld betere prijs-kwaliteit verhouding. De Roero is daarom al door diverse internationale wijnkenners erkend als "verborgen juweel" en als interessant alternatief voor Barolo. Truffels. Misschien wel de meest besproken echt Italiaanse delicatesse. Inderdaad, de truffel is echt Italiaans. Vaak wordt ten onrechte gedacht dat de truffel een Frans product is omdat de truffel een paar eeuwen geleden werd ingenomen door de Franse keuken. In Frankrijk vindt men ook truffels, maar het overgrote deel van de truffels ligt verborgen in de Italiaanse grond en dan vooral in Umbrië en de Piemonte.
De herfst is het seizoen van de speciale truffels en daardoor een uitstekende tijd voor een bezoekje aan Italië. Laat je verwennen met de meest heerlijke gerechten met verse truffel die misschien wel op de dag zelf is gevonden. Maar je kunt het culinaire goud natuurlijk ook vanuit Italië gewoon thuis laten bezorgen via Dutch Truffle.
