Bringing More Logic to the Heart Of Our Emotional Intelligence | Strategic Human Insights | Job Advice - on Getting Hired | Scoop.it
High EQ is about clarity. The more emotional we become the less of that clarity we have and the less we can bring into situations around us.

Via Garth Sanginiti, Bobby Dillard
Trish Sadar's insight:

Thank you Bobby for sharing this article with us!

I especially agree with the statement"  What we can’t measure we can’t improve."

Being intelligent about our emotions is excellent; however, we do have to know what success looks like.  Then we have to know how to measure success.

Make it a great day!

Garth Sanginiti's curator insight, August 5, 2013 9:49 PM

With over 35 years experience in the field, Jay highlights the need to measure EQ in order to really be successful and to drive meaningful, lasting, positive change in people.  And measuring from an intra- and interpersonal intelligence perspective gives you the complete picture. As Jay states, "In a world of upside-down thinking on many subjects, perspectives and issues, learning how to realistically evaluate our own EQ helps to keep us right-side up and balanced in our approach to ourselves, others and our work."

The rules have changed in today’s labor market. More employers care about whether a worker can add value, not where a college degree was earned.
Trish Sadar's insight:

Absoslutely excellent article ... a must read!

I especially agree with the statement that there are two main reasons why someone doesn't get hired:

1.  “you’re not showing the employer how you will help them add value,”

2.  “You don’t know what you want, and it comes through b

Want to land the job...ask this question!

Want to land the job...ask this question! | Job Advice - on Getting Hired | Scoop.it
Trish Sadar's insight:

Have you ever noticed a particular job open for an extensive period of time?

Of course -- we all have.  What you may not know is sometimes the job is open, because the hiring manager has not found the person who is the right fit.  What I mean by this is that the people who the manager may have interviewed had the experience and skills; however, did not have the one thing that was very important for the manager.

So, if you interview for a position has been open for quite some time-- here is the quesiton you can ask the hiring manager:

Paraphrasing:  "Could you share with me what you are looking for in the ideal candidate?"

You see, the hiring manager may say something like confidentialy, initiative, etc.

When you ask this question, it may uncover what the hiring manager is seeking besides experience and skills.

Then during the interview thake the opportunity during the right time to demonstrate that you possess that competency.

Make it a great day!
