Butcher paper and Post-it notes can help students understand the collaborative thinking that takes place on a shared Google Doc.
Maree Whiteley's insight:

Love this idea for document analysis..."It was a fun way to add some physical movement to what I had feared would be the standard, uninteresting document analysis, and it was enlightening to watch them move the notes around to make sense of what was at first a large jigsaw puzzle of unrelated concepts."

History in the Raw

History in the Raw | Doing History | Scoop.it

The National Archives Digital Classroom: Primary Sources, Activities and Training for Educators and Students.Documents--diaries, letters, drawings, and memoirs--created by those who participated in or witnessed the events of the past tell us something that even the best-written article or book cannot convey.

Maree Whiteley's insight:

Primary sources fascinate students because they are real and they are personal; history is humanized through them. Using original sources, students touch the lives of the people about whom history is written. They participate in human emotions and in the values and attitudes
