What Are The Habits Of Mind?

What Are The Habits Of Mind? | Critical and Creative Thinking for active learning | Scoop.it

Employing Habits of Mind requires a composite of many skills, attitudes cues, past experiences, and proclivities. It means that we value one pattern of thinking over another, and therefore it implies choice making about which habit should be employed at which time. It includes sensitivity to the contextual cues in a situation signaling that it is an appropriate time and circumstance to employ this pattern.

Maree Whiteley's insight:

Many of these Habits of Mind can be found across the Curriculum...are you actively planning for this?

How to Build Students' Creative Confidence

How to Build Students' Creative Confidence | Critical and Creative Thinking for active learning | Scoop.it

If we hope to inspire a generation of innovators, we can't have students second-guessing their own ability to ask good questions. As Einstein cautioned, "The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing." Curiosity and creativity are closely linked, and both are essential for generating innovative solutions. Similarly, both can be hampered by a lack of confidence or fear of failure.

Questioning idea using 'Bloom's Buttons'

Questioning idea using 'Bloom's Buttons' | Critical and Creative Thinking for active learning | Scoop.it

Higher level questioning is on everyone's minds these days.  I knew I wanted to create something for Blooms, but just couldn't decide on how I wanted it to look in my classroom.  It's always been something I just do without even thinking.  I always gear my questioning toward higher level thinking, but don't necessarily tell my students where each question ranks on the Bloom's Hierarchy.
I've come up with a little something to incorporate more of the Bloom's language and questioning in my day to day classroom discussions

Maree Whiteley's insight:

Great idea to engage junior primary students...love the colour and visual appeal of this clever design!
