See Canada's glaciers while you still can. Their melting is irreversible, according to projections based on real-world data and validated by satellite images. By the end of the century, a fifth of the Canadian ice sheet – the world's third largest – could be gone for good, raising average global sea levels by 3.5 centimetres. The article discusses the irreversible effects of glacial melting in Canada and shows the resulting impacts it will have on global sea levels. Much of the global glacial data focuses on the Greenland and Antarctic icesheets, with less focus on the rapidly declining glaciers within Canada. They discuss the resulting feedback loop of melting snow and ice that reflects the heat, leading to an even greater increase in local temperatures by up to 8 degrees Celsius. While the damage to these glaciers cannot be undone, global efforts to slow climate change is urgently required in order to preserve what remains.

In the final analysis we cannot drink oil or eat money. It is folly to expect infinite growth and profits from a finite source. Without Nature we humans do not exist. To the degree Nature is sick and out of balance so are we for we depend upon the natural world every moment of every day for our survival. We source everything from Nature. Everything we consume and create has it's origins in Nature, down to the ingredients (resources) for products, food, shelter, and all of our consumer items. And then, in our crazy busy, treadmill lives, there is the ascetic beauty and wonder we have forgotten to appreciate of an miraculous biosphere NOT created by man. Time to pause and reflect?

We have to keep our eye on the donut not the whole as corporations manouver to convince us that their trillion dollar answers to climate change are the way to go. Take "fracking" as an example. We are exchanging our fear and need for renewable energy for: toxic chemicals in our water and environment; for unethical landgrabs of public domain land; for destruction of our public lands and forests; for creating more CO2 from the burning of the gas and most importantly, the total disregard for human and environmental health. We can have it all. By directing our attention to the priority of human and environmental health, we also force the scientific community to exercise their brains to come up with a less toxic, less destructive manner of extracting our natural resources. After all, aren't we just exchanging one set of old "oil" values for another: drill, baby drill"
Until they can come up with a way to bring natural gas to market without the horrorendous destruction and pollution it leaves in its wake (for you, the taxpayer to clean up (if possible) we should pause the rush to both gas and oil extractions, lest we end up living in a world of poisonous, and unredeemable environmental hazards and drinking water.

It seems that the giant global Agrichemical Monsanto cartel now wants to get into and own the biofuel industry. This cartel includes: BigFood, BigPharma, BigAg and now... BigOil... A sweeping control over our land, food, environmental and human health. As demand moves away from traditional fossil fuels you can bet Big Oil wants to get into and control the questionable biofuel trend, promoted by the US Pentagon. Do you want our natural lands polluted with genetically modified organisms, destroying natural biodiversity and saturating the environment with the necesary attending pesticides and chemicals they require adversely impacting both ecosystem and human health?
This is what is happening in other parts of the world as the powerful multi-national corporations chase mega profits for control over biofuels and food

The latest research from the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory at Columbia University published in December 2012 has some truly astounding news.
