GE HealthCare Rolls Out Remote Fleet ECG Management System

GE HealthCare Rolls Out Remote Fleet ECG Management System | Case Management in Health Care | Scoop.it
Feb. 9, 2026 — GE HealthCare has announced the United States launch of ReadyFix, a remote fleet management solution designed to help healthcare systems support device uptime. ReadyFix will seamlessly integrate with GE HealthCare’s MAC VU360 resting ECG workstations, which are designed to deliver high-quality ECG readings that help clinicians make faster, more confident cardiac care decisions. When paired with ReadyFix, healthcare systems can leverage real-time** data for remote device diagnosis and repair, supporting optimized MAC VU360 performance and continuity of cardiac care.  With an average of 10 to 15 connected devices per bed, the biomedical engineering team may be responsible for managing thousands of medical devices in their hospital — making it increasingly difficult to keep up with day-to-day maintenance and repairs.1,2,3 In fact, a recent survey found the majority of biomedical engineers (56%) describe their workload as "heavy" or "excessive."4 At the same time, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects more than 7,300 openings for biomedical equipment technicians over the next decade, yet only about 400 new graduates enter the field each year, widening the gap between demand and available support.5,6 "Remote fleet management tools provide us with the clarity, structure and real‑time insights needed to stay ahead of equipment issues and maintain a high standard of reliability across the hospital," said Tony Williams, Director of Biomedical Engineering at Baptist Hospital in Pensacola.**** "These tools elevate the way our biomedical engineering team supports patient care equipment."  The introduction of ReadyFix expands GE HealthCare’s growing portfolio of DeviceReady remote fleet management solutions, designed to help biomedical engineers navigate the complexity of managing medical devices. With ReadyFix, standardized clinical configurations can be remotely deployed by department — enabling a consistent user experience and patient protocols. For optimal efficiency and operational flexibility, software updates can be remotely deployed instantly or scheduled, while remote access to device diagnostic tools and log files can enable proactive troubleshooting and maintenance. By reducing these device-related disruptions, ReadyFix supports care teams in providing consistent, quality care for patients. Additionally, configuration management enables health systems to standardize devices after installation and supports secure, reliable transmission of ECG data.   “As healthcare systems continue to adopt more complex and connected devices, the need for more efficient fleet management solutions has never been greater,” said Neal Sandy, Head of Product Strategy and Management for Patient Care Solutions, GE HealthCare. “The introduction of ReadyFix represents a significant step forward in connected care management, launching first with MAC VU360 and designed with the intent to be compatible with additional devices and care areas in the future.*** By simplifying the operation and maintenance of our MAC VU360 ECG workstations, we’re helping care teams stay focused on delivering timely cardiac patient care.”  For more information on ReadyFix, please visit: https://www.gehealthcare.com/services/readyfix     *Use of ReadyFix is limited to ReadyFix-enabled devices. MAC VU360 software version 3.0 is required.  **Actual time may vary slightly due to hospital network and processing times.  ***Technology in development that represents ongoing research and development efforts. These technologies may not become products and may not be available for sale in your region.   ****The statements by Tony Williams described here are based on the customer's own opinion and on results that were achieved in the customer’s unique setting. Since there is no “typical” hospital and many variables exist, i.e., hospital size, case mix, etc. there can be no guarantee that other customers will achieve the same results.         Heather Landi, “82% of healthcare organizations have experienced an IoTfocused cyberattack, survey finds,” Fierce Healthcare, last modified August 29, 2019  American Hospital Association. Fast Facts on U.S. Hospitals, 2025. Enhancing Payment Integrity in U.S. Healthcare Through Value-Based Care: The Role of Bundled Episodes and Alternative Payment Models | Cureus

Enhancing Payment Integrity in U.S. Healthcare Through Value-Based Care: The Role of Bundled Episodes and Alternative Payment Models | Cureus | Case Management in Health Care | Scoop.it
Improper payments, unnecessary utilization, and administrative inefficiencies represent persistent structural challenges within the United States healthcare system. This places significant pressure on healthcare spending. Value-based care (VBC), particularly through bundled episode payments and alternative payment models (APMs), has emerged not only as a potential cost containment strategy but also as a potential framework for strengthening payment integrity and promoting appropriate resource use.

This article examines how value-based care models, particularly bundled payments and APMs, strengthen payment integrity by addressing structural drivers of improper payments through improved transparency, accountability, and stewardship of healthcare resources across the care continuum. Bundled episode payments establish a single, prospectively defined payment for all services associated with a discrete episode of care, supporting greater predictability of spending and improved coordination across settings, while reducing fragmentation within the care continuum.

By shifting reimbursement away from volume-based incentives toward outcome-oriented accountability, VBC facilitates clearer evaluation of utilization patterns and enables earlier identification of unexplained variation through routine monitoring and analytics. These design features complement traditional oversight and utilization management efforts by addressing the underlying payment and delivery-system drivers of fee-for-service (FFS) reimbursement.

This technical report synthesizes existing evidence and policy analysis to examine how value-based care models address a critical policy gap by embedding payment integrity and utilization oversight within payment design, rather than relying solely on retrospective enforcement.

Challenges in burn care management: a qualitative study of health professionals’ and patients’ perspectives | Scientific Reports

Challenges in burn care management: a qualitative study of health professionals’ and patients’ perspectives | Scientific Reports | Case Management in Health Care | Scoop.it
Burn injuries are severe traumas causing serious complications and high mortality. Managing burns is especially challenging in resource-limited settings. This study explores burn care challenges from the perspectives of both patients and healthcare providers. This qualitative descriptive study was conducted in Iran (2024–2025) with 41 hospitalized burn patients and healthcare providers, including physicians, nurses, psychologists, physiotherapists, and nutritionists. Participants were purposively sampled, and data were collected through semi-structured interviews until saturation. Data were analyzed concurrently using Graneheim and Lundman’s content analysis method with MAXQDA 2020 for data management. An inductive data analysis process revealed two main categories and nine subcategories. The categories identified were: “Structural and Professional Barriers in Burn Management” and “Challenges Related to Burn Patients and their Families”. Key structural barriers include inadequate interprofessional collaboration, limited resources and specialized expertise in non-specialized centers, insufficient burn care education in health profession curricula, and a lack of attention to burn injuries in health policy. Patient- and family-related challenges include cultural and economic factors, insufficient post-discharge follow-up, and low public awareness about burn injuries. This study highlights the multifaceted challenges in burn management from both healthcare providers’ and patients’ perspectives. Addressing these interconnected challenges requires comprehensive strategies encompassing healthcare system reforms, enhanced education and training, culturally sensitive care approaches, and supportive policies. Such efforts are essential to improve patient outcomes, reduce long-term complications, and alleviate the substantial burden of burn injuries on individuals and the healthcare system.
