How to Set Up a Canon Wireless Printer

How to Set Up a Canon Wireless Printer | Canon Printer Support | Scoop.it

Power on your Canon wireless printer after you have removed it from the packaging. Insert the ink cartridges when prompted on the screen. Your first printer ink cartridges are included. If you have a computer already connected to a desktop or Windows XP, skip to step 7.

Print and scan the alignment sheet as prompted on the printer screen. Press OK when done.

Insert the setup CD even if you are connecting your Canon printer via wireless network. There are printer drivers created for wireless networks on this CD.

Follow the CD setup instructions on the screen. Have the printer find the actual wi-fi network signal that you will be using and select that on the printer screen and on your computer. The wi-fi light will be on when the network is connected.

Print a test page from your computer when everything is completed on the screen and if you are prompted by the Canon setup CD to do so.

Go into printers and ensure Canon is set as your default printer. This will ensure all software will use this as your primary printer. There will be a check mark next to it.

Go into printer setup and search for a printer connected via network on your computer. This may take a few minutes. You must enable printer and file sharing on both computers before you will be able to view a USB connected printer on a network.

Select use this printer when it finds your printer. Make sure it is set to be the default printer and print a test page.

How to Fix Error Code E13 and 1686 in Canon MX Series Printers

Error Code: 1686/E13

Description

The ink may have run out.

Resolution

1.      Replace the empty ink cartridges.
Canon recommends using new genuine Canon cartridges in order to obtain optimum qualities.
Please view the compatible ink cartridges for your machine using our
PIXMA ink finder.

NOTE -  Since the information contained in the fax may be lost if it is printed in this condition, the received fax will not be printed and will be stored in the machine's memory until the ink cartridge is replaced. You must manually print out faxes that were stored in the memory. You can change the setting so that the received fax is forcibly printed out instead of being stored in the memory, but all or part of the fax information may not be printed because of the ink out condition.

Canon Mp230 error code 1300

Paper Is Jammed in the Paper Output Slot or the Rear Tray

This error generally known as errorcode 1300 indicates Paper Jam in your canon mp230 printer.

If you need to turn off the machine to remove jammed paper during printing, press the Stop/Reset button to cancel print jobs before turning off the machine.

Paper Is Jammed in the Paper Output Slot or the Rear Tray:

Remove the paper following these steps:

Step 1: Pull the paper out slowly, either from the rear tray or from the paper output slot, whichever is easier.

Step 2: Reload the paper, and press the Stop/Reset button on the machine.

If you turned off the machine in step 1, all print jobs in the queue are canceled. Reprint if necessary.

If you cannot remove the paper or the paper tears inside the machine, or if the paper jam error continues after removing the paper, contact the service center.

Paper Is Jammed inside the Machine:

Remove the paper inside the machine follow these procedure:

Step 1: Turn off the machine, and unplug the power cord of the machine from the power supply.

Step 2: Open the scanning unit / cover.

If the paper or your hands touch these parts and blot or scratch them, the machine can be damaged.

Step 3: Make sure that the jammed paper is not under the FINE cartridge holder.

If the jammed paper is under the FINE cartridge holder, move the FINE cartridge holder to the right edge or the left edge whichever is easier to remove the paper.

When you move the FINE cartridge holder, hold the FINE cartridge holder and slide it slowly to the right edge or the left edge.

Step 4: Hold the jammed paper with your hands.

If the paper is rolled up, pull it out.

Step 5: Pull the paper slowly not to tear it, and then pull the paper out diagonally forward in front at aslant.

Keep an angle of the paper about 45 degrees and pull it slowly.

Step 6: Make sure that all the jammed paper is removed.

If the paper is torn, a piece of paper may remain inside the machine. Check the following and remove the piece of paper if it remains.

Does the piece of paper remain under the FINE cartridge holder?

Does the little piece of paper remain inside the machine?

Does the piece of paper remain in the right side or the left side space (C) inside the machine?

Step 7: Close the scanning unit / cover, then reload the paper.

All print jobs in the queue are canceled. Reprint if necessary.

Check 1: Are there any foreign objects around the paper output slot?

Check 2: Are there any foreign objects in the rear tray?

If there are any foreign objects in the rear tray, be sure to turn off the machine, unplug it from the power supply, then remove the foreign object.

Check 3: Is the paper curled.
In this you need assistance to repair your canon mp230 printer. If you have any query related to this error, you can post a question here ( )

How To Service My Printer - Error Code for Canon PIXMA MP287 | Canon Printer Support | Scoop.it

P02 – Carriage Error, there is something wrong with your printer ink cartridge, it could be in wrong position, something blocked the chip (see at the back of cartridge), also P02 error code show sign that your print head is broken or faulty, try to take out both of the cartridge and then put it back.

P07 – Ink Absorber Is Full or Almost Full, you need to reset your printer, here is an article how to reset your canon mp287 printer. Follow the step, you can reset only if your absorber is almost full. You can’t reset if your ink absorber is full, to fix the absorber is full, you need to disassemble your printer and then replace the ink absorber (it’s just a pieces of sponge located in the printer), last time I just deep the sponge into water until the sponge is clean. I found a video but for MP258, the sponge located at the same position.

Delete Old and Unwanted Outlook Express Stationery

Itend to install every I come across. Maybe I like it. But maybe I don't, and over time a lot of stationery has accumulated in my stationery folder, making it ever more difficult to find the ones I like. Time to do some cleaning!

To delete old and unwanted stationery from Outlook Express:

Click on the down arrow on the Create Mail button.Select Select Stationery from the menu.In the list of stationery that comes up,click with the right mouse button on any stationery file you want to delete andselect Delete from the pop-up menu to remove it.

Note that this will not remove any files associated with the stationery (like images and sounds, for example), but it will certainly help you keep the list of available stationery in Outlook Express clean.

If the stationery you just deleted still shows up in the Create Mail drop-down menu in Outlook Express, there's a way to get rid of this entry, too.

Canon MX870 prints incredibly slow via WIFI

Canon MX870 prints incredibly slow via WIFI | Canon Printer Support | Scoop.it

I have an MX870 with an iMac quad core running OSX 10.6 and a net gear router. I don't use a USB cable because the run would exceed 15' because of the way the furniture is layed out where the computer and printer are, and the USB cable is too long to power the connection. This has happened with every printer I've used. However, the printer/computer and router are all physically within about 6 feet of each other at most (I'm just trying to avoid running a USB cable directly across the carpet in the middle of the living room). So I use the wireless printing option. However, even when i have a document that is composed of nothing more than 1 black and white sentence and nothing else on the page, or a envelope that I'm putting nothing more on than an address, it always takes between 2-3 minutes from the time I hit print, to the time the paper comes out of the printer. Even with wireless printing, this can't be right. There has to be some way of speeding up the process. Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks

CHECKING THE PRINT QUEUE IN CANON PRINTER

CHECKING THE PRINT QUEUE IN CANON PRINTER | Canon Printer Support | Scoop.it

The print queue screen displays various kinds of information about the print jobs listed in the print queue. It can indicate whether the queue is working or not (in the blue title bar of the screen). It can report the status of each print job (spooled, printing, deleting, or error messages). It also lists the owner, the number of pages, and the size of each print job. The sections below tell how to check the status of a print job and how to clear jobs from the print queue when print job(s) may be "stuck."

Check status of the print job

If a particular printer is having problems, the first thing to check is the status of the print job, which may indicate the cause of the problem. Write down the status message so as to report it accurately. Many of the print queue error messages under the Status column are described in the last section of this document, COMMON PRINTER PROBLEMS. Look up the error messages in that section for suggestions in solving the problem.

To check the status of a print job:

Click the Start button, then Settings, then Printers.Find and double-click the desired printer name listed in the Printers screen. The print queue screen will appear with the currently printing print job at the top of list and allpending print jobs listed below it.Look at the top print job's status message. (You may have to drag the column separator to the right to see all of it).

Check the printer's status via the Web

Most printers serve their own web pages and can be checked for information, such as: printing status, display messages, toner cartridge usage, paper counts, paper tray sizes, and printer capabilities.

To find this information for one of the newer printers via the web:

Find the printer's IP address or name by following instructions in section FIND PRINTER DOMAIN NAME/IP ADDRESS AND PRINTER MODEL. When checking a specific printer on the web, you must enter the individual name of the printer you are checking.A web page will appear displaying status information.

Cancel or Purge print jobs in queue

Usually the top print job (currently printing) is the culprit causing the problem, so try canceling it first if dealing with a departmental printer. However, you may have to eventually delete (purge) all the print jobs in the list to get the printer to print again. HelpLine staff should purge all public print queues to clear out any old abandoned print requests that may still be waiting to print.

The Cancel command is used to delete a single print job, while the Purge command is used to clear all jobs from the queue. Note: Generally most users have permissions set to cancel only their own print jobs and no one else's. The Purge option is available only to users with special privileges, such as the Helpline staff, the LBIS staff, or certain individuals who manage the printers for their department.

Instructions for clearing print jobs from the queue:

Pause the print queue:In the print queue screen click Printer in the menu bar.Click Pause Printing (a checkmark will appear before Pause Printing).

Cancel a single print job (usually the top print document) in the queue:Highlight the top print job in the list.Click Document, then Cancel (this cancels only the one highlighted document). If you cannot get the top print job to disappear, you may have to recycle the printer once or twice to clear the memory of the printer completely. (See instructions in next section RECYCLE THE PRINTER).

OR:Purge all print jobs in the queue: (requires special privileges)Click Printer, then Purge Print Documents. The entire list of print jobs should disappear.

Unpause (restart) the print queue:(Remember to unpause the queue or the job won't print!!)Click Printer, then Pause Printing (checkmark now disappears from Pause Printing option)Exit print queue screen.

Try printing a second time.

Recycle the Printer in canon printer

If the print job will not disappear in the print queue list after deleting, try recycling the printer. This should clear the memory of the printer and will usually enable the printer to print again. It may also clear out any pending print jobs in the list as well.

Note: Sometimes the printer may have to be recycled a second time before it will print (if the top print job in the queue will not disappear with the first recycling).

To recycle the printer:

Turn off the printer power switch. If your printer has a little white print server (Lantronix) box attached on the back, unplug theblack power cord and the blue network cable that are plugged into that box. If there is no little white box attached, there will only be a blue network cable that must be unplugged.Wait 30 seconds and then plug the blue network cable (and the black power cord, if there is one) back into place.Turn on printer again and wait at least 5 minutes before printing a test page to it. It may take that long before print jobs will go through again successfully (See instructions in sectionPRINT TEST PAGE REMOTELY TO VALIDATE NETWORK CONNECTION).
