The Benque House of Culture is celebrating 13 years this Saturday, and they are teaming up with the Embassy of Mexico to have a concert for the occasion.  The Benque Marimba Academy, Benque Viejo Marching Band, and the Ayre brass quintet will all be performing.  The event starts at 7:30pm.  Happy anniversary, Benque HoC!

"Make it a date and let's celebrate the Benque House of Culture 13 years Anniversary Celebration with a musical concert featuring ' Ayre' from Merida Yucatan, our very Champions, the Benque Viejo Marching Band & Benque Marimba Academy...."

The Embassy of Mexico is having a free concert at the Cayo Welcome Center on Friday, April 25th, at 7:00pm.  It's entitled 'Un Viaje de Ida y Vuelta' and will have 3 musicians from Mexico performing.

"During this concert,the pianist Melanie Lopez, the guitarist and composer Victor Celis and the soprano Cristina Woodward will take the listeners to a musical journey through Europe, to countries such as France, Spain and Germany, ending the trip in Mexico, particularly in Yucatan.   The concert will include sound combinations of piano-soprano, guitar-soprano, piano-guitar andending with the combination of the three instruments."

The Mexican Trade Mission will be happening at the Embassy of Mexico in Belmopan this Wednesday, June 18th, and in Belize City on the 19th,  ProMéxico, the Mexican Trade and Investment agency, is having this to strengthen the trade relations between Mexical and Belize.  One of the goals is to identify vendors and buyers of many localized products, like jams and jellies, pepper sauces, wines, and liquors.  They'll also focus on software, and industrial compounds.  Sounds like a great idea.  Call 822-0210 for more information.

"The Embassy of Mexico invites Belizean entrepreneurs to participate in the Mexican Trade Mission 2014 to introduce and interact with Mexican counterparts."

The Embassy of Mexico had a couple of harp recitals by Ada Tzab, a young harpist from Mexico.  She played the recital entitled 'Around the World in 36 Strings' in Belize City and Belmopan.

"Ada Tzab is a young artist from Merida, Yucatan, Mexico. She holds a degree in Musical Arts from the Yucatan Advanced School of Music and has participated as invited harpist in prestigious orchestras in Mexico."

The George Price Centre is launching their Jazz and More exhibit tomorrow.  Entrance is free.  It'll be on display until March 8th.  This exhibition, which includes 23 works of art, facilitates communication and mutual understanding between Belizean and Mexican artists, especially those who live and work in the South of the Mexican state of Quintana Roo.
