The Constructal Law governs the phenomena of design and evolution in nature. The conference explores the unifying power of the Constructal Law and its applications in all the domains of design generation and evolution, from biology and geophysics to social organization, energy sustainability and security.
The conference also covers the Second Law, and how the Constructal Law fits in thermodynamics. The Constructal Law and the Second Law are self-standing as first principles. Together, they empower science much more than the Second Law alone.

Architect's interest in ancient Greek geometry led to a new way of thinking about design - now his work may be coming to Hong Kong
There's more below on the Asynsis-principle Constructal law and how working with us, stakeholders can add world-class quality with strong Asian values to their new architecture & design projects here in Asia.
It's a compelling, universally applicable new methodology for optimising beauty in design, efficiencies in construction and operations whilst also enhancing project and brand value, in the built environment & beyond.
The Hong Kong Spin is proposed as ideally, a PPP with the government of the HK SAR and a commercial consortium, for which we seek interest.
It would also serve as a demonstration project for the new optimal, sustainable design methods of the Asynsis-Constructal paradigm. When shown to the Tourism commission and former Commerce and Economic Development secretary before, the reaction was very positive indeed.
The ideal site is WKCD, with the HKS having a value-adding catalysing "one country, two systems" (Greek letter Phi, Chinese character Zhong) symbolism.
Like the London Eye at the Culture and Arts-focused Southbank and the Eiffel Tower, it would be a bespoke-tailored city branding icon for our beautiful fusion city, giving us competitive advantage over our regional rivals like Singapore.
The original complete project delivery team for concept (first published and exhibited in 1997 via an HKIA Handover competition), delivery and engineering would again be engaged in this enterprise.

The Press Release purpose is dual - it's both:
1. an announcement of the Asynsis presentation at the October 2013 Nanjing Constructal Law science conference with Asynsis as the sole representative of the design industries. It's a historical first as far as we know in the sense that an architect has just presented at a science conference as a direct contributor to that particular science, which is a thermodynamics and geometry-led design Theory of Everything in Complexity.
and
2. a promotional-capabilities document explaining the significance of that link between the arts and sciences in terms of design, development and operations in the built environment to help promote optimal, sustainable and (very) beautiful international-standard and Chinese-compatible design, particularly in China and wider Asia.

What is the definition of Life? Adrian Bejan's Constructal Law offers a new perspective that unifies the fields of Physics, Biology, Society and Technology.
Life as exemplary Design in Nature - as information processing, from quantum entanglement to classical universality - inexorably yielding increasing complexity and evolutionary fitness, because entropy-export follows the 2nd law of thermodynamics and speeds the cosmos to thermal equilibrium more easily and speedily.

I first came across the work of Adrian Bejan through my old friend, J. Peder Zane who emailed a bunch of classmates about a new book he had co-written with Bejan called Design in Nature, How the Constructal Law Governs Evolution in Biology, Physics, Technology and Social Organization. I called Peder up to talk about it and found myself immediately sucked in.
How could there be a new law in physics that nobody outside of academia seems to know about? There must be something wrong with it, or else I would already know about it, right? But science is on a slower news cycle than technology and, as author William Gibson once joked, “The future is already here—it’s just not evenly distributed.” And so it is with the Constructal Law, already here but not evenly distributed.
Because Bejan has identified a basic Law of Physics that describes and predicts how design patterns emerge over time, he contends that one can construct a “constructal theory” about any system, animate, inanimate or technological (see more about this at Constructal Theory Web Portal). This last one of course got my attention and I have been peppering my posts with little constructal tidbits ever since. Anybody who has participated in the phenomenon of viral social media understands, intuitively, what Bejan is describing mathematically. There are characteristic ways that flows change their configuration over time to flow more (and more!).
