After using AngularJs for awhile I needed to extend the built in$filter("currency") to add a bit of css magic to some of my elements. I wanted to add a class to the text so I can style the element to give it a distinct look for positive and negative values. I also did not want to reinvent the currency filter.

As our browsers implement more and more features and the web moves more and more toward mobile devices, the need to keep our front end code compact and optimized becomes more important. What's great about the front end is that there are many simple strategies and code conventions we can use to to ensure optimal front end performance. This post aims to provide you nine of these code tips, tips you could probably implement on your existing sites in matter of minutes!
This comprehensive primer on the internal operations of WebKit and Gecko is the result of much research done by Israeli developer Tali Garsiel. Over a few years, she reviewed all the published data about browser internals (see Resources) and spent a lot of time reading web browser source code. As a web developer, learning the internals of browser operations helps you make better decisions and know the justifications behind development best practices. While this is a rather lengthy document, we recommend you spend some time digging in; we guarantee you'll be glad you did.

Use a T4 template to generate Knockout-viewmodels based on .NET classes. This article describes a solution to this problem by using T4 templates to generate the JavaScript Knockout models automatically based on the .NET classes. The resulting Knockout models are extendable so as to be able to add additional functions and (computed) properties client-side. Finally, I also added an IsDirty feature that can indicate if the model has been modified since it's data was set.
