Supreme Court rejects former GOP congressman's appeal in spending scandal - RawStory.com | Operation Deimos | Scoop.it

The U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday rejected a bid by Republican former congressman Aaron Schock, who resigned in 2015 amid questions about spending on his lavish “Downton Abbey”-inspired Washington office, to escape charges accusing him of defrauding the government while a member of the House of Representatives.

Anonymous Hades's insight:

During his brief time as a member of Congress, notorious spendthrift Aaron Schock got a little too greedy for his own good. As a result of his profligacy, he eventually became the disgraced poster child for all that is wrong with the GOP leadership.

Officials Question Donald Trump’s Use of Tax Loopholes - ABC News | Operation Deimos | Scoop.it

“Trump says he represents the little guy, but the little guy is going to have to pay his taxes for him here in Ossining,” said Dana Levenberg, the Ossining town supervisor.

Anonymous Hades's insight:

If voters take a good, hard look at Donald Trump, they'll find a political wannabe who's no different than the other corporate carpetbaggers in the GOP leadership who were after the presidency.  The only problem for them is that Trump's penchant for unbridled greed makes him better at 'gaming the system' than they are.

Where The Minimum Wage Would Be If It Kept Pace With The Earnings Of The 1% - ThinkProgress.org

Where The Minimum Wage Would Be If It Kept Pace With The Earnings Of The 1% - ThinkProgress.org | Operation Deimos | Scoop.it

If the minimum wage had grown at the same rate as the earnings of the top one percent of Americans the federal wage floor would be more than triple the current hourly minimum of $7.25.

Anonymous Hades's insight:

This chart confirms what angry Americans have suspected all along:  The backstabbers of corporate personhood are cheating working class Americans out of a living wage, and they've been doing it for a very long time.

Where are the cost-of-living raises we should have received?  We never got them.  Where did all that money go?

The dirty, rotten truth:

The money that could have made families stronger and more stable went into the pockets of the greedy executives on Wall Street, the shameless cheats of the corporate world, and the craven lobbyists who comprise the corporate hacks serving the backstabbers who pay the inside traders and freeloaders in Congress to keep us miserable.

However, the appearance of Pope Francis changes everything. When the Pope attacks greed, he's going after Behemoth.  When he does, I back him without hesitation.  He knows what he's doing.

Oil and gas firms 'have had far worse climate impact than thought' | Environment | The Guardian | Operation Deimos | Scoop.it

The oil and gas industry has had a far worse impact on the climate than previously believed, according to a study indicating that human emissions of fossil methane have been underestimated by up to 40%.

Anonymous Hades's insight:

“This indicates that the fossil fuel sector has a much more polluting impact beyond being responsible for the overwhelming majority of carbon dioxide emissions. This is worrying and overall bad news,” said Dr Joeri Rogelj, a climate change lecturer at the Grantham Institute.
