Purpose, meaning, contribution are the drivers that build our best selves, best work, best organizations. Having a keen mind, a positive attitude and the aptitude for disciplined thought, action and resiliency are critical, but they are no longer enough. ===> Accessing purpose, meaning and our ability to contribute in the face of unremitting change, challenges and opportunities demands a whole new focus. <=== A focus that starts with building what I call constructive discontent; a positive, purposeful and a somewhat counterintuitive strength that can be learned. Finding new ways to optimize potential is critical, this aim was the genesis of my 3Q Edge™ and R-E-A-C-H coaching and training.

Have you ever asked someone you trusted, respected or admired for his or her feedback and constructive criticism about your work performance? If not, consider giving it a try Obtaining constructive criticism can be a powerful exercise. For some, it may confirm the perceptions they already had of themselves. Others will find it to be an eye-opening experience. For the most part, you’ll find that people feel flattered to be a part of your proactive personal development. Does obtaining feedback and constructive criticism really work? For me, it’s provided an opportunity to learn things about myself I didn’t always know. The feedback also allowed me to adjust certain behaviors so I could positively impact the perception of others. What’s not to love about that?

Tinkering... makerspaces... engineering... design thinking... learning spaces... robotics... coding...These are all things that are big in my county right now... along with a HUGE push to use techn... I think, as educators, we need to stop talking change. We need to stop talking revolution, or reform, or transformation, or evolution or any of those other words that basically say what we’re doing isn’t working. We need to set common goals and then use what we know about teaching and learning to reach those goals. It’s not about test scores. It’s not about reading and writing and ‘rithmetic–or coding, or tinkering, or making or technology. It’s about LEARNING… and COMPREHENDING… and ANALYZING… and EVALUATING… and CREATING… and THINKING… and using the habits of mind that support critical thinking, reacting thoughtfully, doing and sharing. It’s about being a thoughtful, productive, responsible member of the society we call the human race.

Sociology is the scientific study of human society[1] and its origins, development, organizations, and institutions.[2] It is a social science which uses various methods of empirical investigation[3] and critical analysis[4] to develop a body of knowledge about human social activity, structures, and functions.
A goal for many sociologists is to conduct research which may be applied directly to social policy and welfare, while others focus primarily on refining the theoretical understanding of social processes. Subject matter ranges from the micro level of individual agency and interaction to the macro level of systems and thesocial structure.[5]
