Amazon announced Thursday it’s launching its own generative AI service through its cloud computing platform, targeting corporate customers who want to incorporate AI into their businesses, a split-off from other tech giants’ consumer-focused approaches to AI.

The AI service Amazon Bedrock offers companies tools to build and grow their own artificial intelligence applications designed for their business needs, according to an announcement from Amazon Web Services.

On Thursday, OpenAI announced a plugin system for its ChatGPT AI assistant. The plugins give ChatGPT the ability to interact with the wider world through the Internet, including booking flights, ordering groceries, browsing the web, and more. Plugins are bits of code that tell ChatGPT how to use an external resource on the Internet.

Basically, if a developer wants to give ChatGPT the ability to access any network service (for example: "looking up current stock prices") or perform any task controlled by a network service (for example: "ordering pizza through the Internet"), it is now possible, provided it doesn't go against OpenAI's rules.

Zudem steht der Chatbot anfänglich nur Abonnenten von Snapchat+ zur Verfügung. Der Dienst, der 3,99 Dollar pro Monat kostet, gewährt Nutzern laut Snapchat Zugriff auf “eine Sammlung von exklusiven, experimentellen und Vorab-Funktionen”.

Move over OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Google’s Bard, and Microsoft’s Prometheus—there’s yet another large language model-powered artificial intelligence in town. Meta, the company formerly known as Facebook, introduced its own AI today, called LLaMA. The animal-esque acronym predictably stands for Large Language Model Meta AI.

Google has introduced its experimental AI chat service, Bard, a direct rival to OpenAI's ChatGPT. Google's AI chatbot will be tested by a select number of users before rolling out to the general public in the next couple of weeks. 

Bard is powered by Google's Language Model for Dialogue Applications (LaMDA) and will draw on all the information from the web to provide responses. This in itself is a big differentiating factor from ChatGPT, which can only access information from up until 2021 and does not have access to the web. 

Microsoft will add contextual searches to Bing, powered by its own version of the ChatGPT algorithm. Microsoft will also integrate a separate, dedicated chat interface for Bing, complete with footnoted links. Finally, AI will be integrated into Edge, allowing to summarize a financial earnings report, for example. Bing’s new search engine interface is live, but to a limited number of people. It will expand in the coming weeks.

Microsoft announced on Tuesday a new version of its Bing search engine powered by a next-generation OpenAI language model more powerful than ChatGPT and specially trained for web search.

"AI will fundamentally change every software category, starting with the largest category of all – search," Microsoft Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella said today at a Redmond press event.

"Today, we're launching Bing and Edge powered by AI copilot and chat, to help people get more from search and the web."

OpenAI has released GPT-4, its latest artificial intelligence model that it claims exhibits “human-level performance” on several academic and professional benchmarks such as the US bar exam, advanced placement tests and the SAT school exams.

The new model, which can be accessed via the $20 paid version of ChatGPT, is multimodal, which means it can accept input in both text and image form. It can then parse and respond to these queries using text.

ChatGPT's advanced abilities, such as debugging code, writing an essay or cracking a joke, have led to its massive popularity. Despite its abilities, its assistance has been limited to text -- but that is going to change soon. 

GPT-4 is set to launch next week, allowing for the possibility of text-to-video generation, according to an address from Andreas Braun, CTO of Microsoft Germany, at the AI in Focus -- Digital Kickoff.

At the company’s campus in Redmond, Washington, today, executives unveiled a new version of Bing incorporating technology behind startup OpenAI’s viral chatbot ChatGPT. The updates will see Bing results include smooth, written responses to queries that summarize information found on the web, and the addition of a new chatbot interface for complex queries.
