"If a school team is effective, then people learn from each other."  Where does the knowledge come from?  Where do these people connect with others outside of their school? Having a space, method, design, and network for learning is essential to the health of a team, school, or organization.  We need to learn and to share this knowledge.

In a modern world where knowledge objects are ubiquitous and openly accessible, the roles of educators and learners must evolve to meet the growing needs of the resulting high-paced, digital society. Connectivism is an emergent, net-enabled learning theory that suggests the most important result of a learning situation is the ability of the learner to make connections between distinct ideas using social capital and the affordances of digital networks.

Educational Technology and Mobile Learning: Teacher 's Guide on Creating Personal Learning Networks

Educational Technology and Mobile Learning: Teacher 's Guide on Creating Personal Learning Networks | Daily Magazine | Scoop.it

"As social media become more and more predominant as platforms of connection and collaboration, the need for creating and maintaining a PLN ( Personal/Professional Learning Network ) becomes more pressing. As teachers and educators we are expected to be on top of the latest trends that can inform and enhance our classroom teaching as well as our professional growth. We are also expected to know the web tools that our students use and the new ones we can use with them in the future; but this is not always possible and because not all of our time constraints it becomes difficult to keep up the the new releases . It is at times like these that you can call upon your PLN."
