Gamifying your classroom can add excitement and engagement to education. Choosing a theme is crucial, whether it's based on movies/TV shows, classic games, or game shows, as it sets the tone for the gamified experience. Creating teams and promoting team building enhances the gamification process and can be tailored to the specific needs of your students.

How to Create Moodle Badges

How to Create Moodle Badges | Moodle and Web 2.0 | Scoop.it
Badges are new in Moodle 2.5+ . Badges are a great way to motivate users. They are an electronic way to demonstrate that you have mastered a specific skill. Moodle badges may be awarded based on a variety of criteria chosen by the teacher. You can upload your own images as badges or get them from a site such as Badges for Your Moodle.

Digital badges have been around for several years, but still have a way to go until they are fully integrated and recognized appropriately in education and in the world of work.  The fact that Moodle, a widely-used and free system for online instruction, has integrated them in their system is definitely a step in the RIGHT direction.  Go Moodle!

Games and Gamification in Moodle

Games and Gamification in Moodle | Moodle and Web 2.0 | Scoop.it
Gamification in Moodle is one of the most effective ways to engage and motivate learners, by using game mechanics and games. Let us quickly clarify the difference between the two. Game mechanics are common gaming tactics used to ignite competition and the desire for learners to ‘win’. Games on the other hand, are the tangible games themselves, such as hangman, or crosswords. The Moodle Games Plugin allows you to utilize glossaries, short answer questions, multiple choice questions, and true/false questions to quiz learners with the following available games:

Hangman
Crossword
Cryptex
Millionaire
Sudoku
The Hidden Picture
Snakes and Ladders
Book with Questions
