Turkey's LGBTQ+ crackdown – "Everything can go darker and darker" | DW News

New Pride memorial in Berlin offers place to mourn

Following the terrorist attack at Pride in Berlin, the district office has set up a memorial at the site. A rainbow-colored bench and a maple tree, replacing the tree the attacker crashed into, now offer a place to mourn.

What happens when society rejects you for who you are? For Hanabi, a Black queer performer in Paris, the ballroom scene became more than a place to dance – it became family. The ballroom community was created in New York in the late 1960s by queer, Black and Latino people as a space of radical belonging – free from racism and hostility. Today, it has become a global movement.
