Your curriculum vitae or CV is one of among the most important documents in academe. As Heather mentions in Friday’s post on archiving CVs, you’ll use it when looking for jobs, when applying for grants, when going up for tenure, and so on and so on. More than a year ago, Natalie wrote a great post summarizing how one should go about creating and maintaining a CV. I find myself doing a lot of the latter. I find it easier just to add information about a conference, a publication, or classes I’m teaching as soon as they happen rather than at the end of the semester.

PERC is co-sponsoring the Theatrical Translation as Creative Process Conference, April 12-15, 2012 in collaboration with Adam Versenyi and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Department of Dramatic Art and Joseph Megel and The Process Series (also housed at UNC-CH).

AfLaT2011, the Third Workshop on African Language Technology, was organized as a breakout session of the AGIS11 conference (Action Week for Global Information Sharing) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. It marked the first time an AfLaT workshop took place on the African continent. AfLaT2011 featured ten presentations on a variety of topics and languages.

The last 48 hours of my life have been entirely occupied by the Société Française des Traducteurs (SFT). The “Journée Mondiale de la Traduction” Conference took place in Paris yesterday, and today’s event was the SFT general meeting.

Une conférence nationale sur le projet de document de politique linguistique s’est tenu au Centre international de conférences de Bamako (CICB) du 6 au 8 décembre. La cérémonie d’ouverture était présidée par le ministre de l’Education, de l’Alphabétisation et des Langues nationales, Salikou Sanogo. La rencontre s’inscrit dans la dynamique de valorisation de nos langues nationales. Les participants ont analysé la situation des langues nationales et l’identification des besoins liés aux langues nationales et langues partenaires ainsi qu’au rappel de la vision de l’UA et de l’Acalan. A l’issue de la rencontre, il a été adopté le projet de document de politique linguistique nationale.

Pourquoi est-il si important pour nombre de traducteurs/rédacteurs ? Faut-il s’en méfier, voire le combattre ? Peut-on le théoriser ?
