Turning documents into conversations

Turning documents into conversations | Tools for Teachers & Learners | Scoop.it

NowComment is fast, powerful, and feature-rich: you can sort comments, skim summaries, create assignments, hide comments, reply privately, and much more.

Nik Peachey's insight:

This looks like another useful tool for creating flipped learning.

Mary Reilley Clark's curator insight, April 11, 2014 2:02 PM

While much of this can be done in Google docs, there are several features which can extend the conversation.  Teachers do need to share documents via email.

CECI Jean-François's curator insight, February 16, 2015 2:20 AM

Intéressant outil pour faire du commentaire social (débat électronique) sur un document, avec des possibilités de tri et de tracking ... Parfait pour l'hybridation de cours

Murielle Godement's curator insight, February 16, 2015 2:52 AM

Strut - An HTML5 Presentation Editor

Strut - An HTML5 Presentation Editor | Tools for Teachers & Learners | Scoop.it

All you need is a web browser. Strut presentations work on desktops, laptops, mobile devices and tablets.

Nik Peachey's insight:

This looks like a great tool for creating presentations and storing them online. It works in the web browser using html 5 and so will also work on most mobile devices. An excellent alternative to PPT.

Daniel Morgenstern's curator insight, March 3, 2014 12:09 PM

Literacy helper

Krishna Prasad Subedi's curator insight, May 11, 2014 5:23 AM

Fear to speak in the target language in non-native speakers' classroom has been a long topic of debate among the educationist, teachers and planners alike. Most children in Nepalese context either feel humiliated before they make mistakes in their utterance. Others fear to share their thoughts due to lack of proper knowledge of target language. While a large group of students, in the school where I teach, do not want to hear the negative feed backs from their teachers. There is always one or other reasons, which may not work together in every students, for excuses to students when it comes to speaking in the targeted language.

Grammarly to check and improve your grammar

Grammarly to check and improve your grammar | Tools for Teachers & Learners | Scoop.it

Even the most confident of native speakers can sometimes have doubts about their spelling and grammar. As for learners of English, getting their writing to a really high degree of proficiency can be a real challenge. It’s great to have a friend to turn to in moments of doubt or better still someone who will proof read your work and give you a second opinion, but if you don’t have that luxury then the Grammarly plagiarism checker is probably the next best thing.

Nik Peachey's insight:

My short review of Grammarly.

Julio Cirnes's curator insight, February 20, 2014 1:04 PM

Great to double check your writing.

Create and monitor engaging flipped learning

Create and monitor engaging flipped learning | Tools for Teachers & Learners | Scoop.it

One other product I have been getting excited about is Verso. This platform is not quite a learning management system, and has built in interactivity. I like it because it is crazy easy to use. It is sort of the anti-LMS way to have students engage with your content.

Nik Peachey's insight:

This looks like a great free product to create flipped learning. It works with tablets on Android or iPad and also in the browser. Very simple to use and great way to make sure your students are engaging with content before class.

Melissa Marshall's curator insight, April 9, 2014 1:44 AM

This app has been a plaything of mine for the last couple of weeks, and I am going to play over the holidays to see how it works. It is very easy to use: upload a video, write some notes/activities and there is the lesson. Seems a simple way to make flipped content for those starting to flip.

OneNote now on Mac, free everywhere, and service powered | Office Blogs | Tools for Teachers & Learners | Scoop.it

When we started OneNote we set out to revolutionize the way people capture, annotate, and recall all the ideas, thoughts, snippets and plans in their life. As many of you have attested, OneNote is the ultimate extension for your brain, but it’s not complete if it’s not instantly available everywhere. We’ve already made a lot of progress in that direction with our mobile, tablet and online web experiences. But there was still a gap. People frequently asked us for OneNote on Mac, and for more ways to capture content.

Nik Peachey's insight:

One of Microsoft's best products is now available free for Mac. Great tool  for online note taking.

Writefull | A new way of writing with confidence

Writefull | A new way of writing with confidence | Tools for Teachers & Learners | Scoop.it

We all use Google to check if our writing is correct. We enter different phrases until we find the one that gives us most results – and this is the one we use in our own text. A smart approach, but not without its annoyances: revisiting the Google webpage breaks the flow of our writing, and its results often contain grammatical errors.

Nik Peachey's insight:

This looks like an interesting software tool which you can download and use to check your writing against the texts included in thousands of Google books. It can even detect context from the text you are writing and compare it to similar contexts. Interesting stuff!

Krysta Hammond's curator insight, March 21, 2014 4:26 PM

An interesting twist on varying your writing. But the comment was correct - there is a bit of a disruption to the writing process and they students need to be reminded that google is not without spelling mistakes!

Slideideia permite ainda importar (e melhorar) apresentações Powerpoint e ficheiros Pdf.
