Qatari organisers hike Arab Cup 2025 prize money to $36.5m | The Business of Events Management | Scoop.it

May 23 – The Qatar Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the 2025 FIFA Arab Cup, to be played December 1-18, has unveiled a total prize pool of $36.5 million, an $11 million increase on the reported 2021 prize pool of $25.5 million.
The 16-team 2025 edition will be the second organised under the FIFA banner. The 2021 tournament was also hosted in Qatar with Algeria beating Tunisia 2-0 in the final.

December 3 – FIFA’s decision to introduce dynamic pricing to the sale of 2026 World Cup tickets potentially marks a watershed moment for the greatest show on earth – one that risks pricing ordinary supporters out of what used to be the world’s game.
International consumer rights organisation Euroconsumers has urged FIFA to abandon the model before sales begin, arguing that demand-led pricing has no place in the expanded 48-team competition.

November 28 – The four ‘home’ associations of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales have formally submitted their joint bid for the Women’s World Cup 2035 with a proposed 22 stadiums, 16 of them in England of which five are in London.
The joint bid is the only bid for 2035. The 2027 World Cup will be held in Brazil, while the USA is the sole bidder for 2031 which will be the first of the expanded 48-team format.

November 12 – Ahead of tonight’s launch of the Euro 2028 tournament to be co-hosted by England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales, UEFA has announced the renewal of its long-running Coca-Cola partnership, with the soft drinks firm becoming an official global sponsor of UEFA EURO 2028, and designated as the official non-alcoholic beverage sponsor.
In London’s Piccadilly tonight UEFA will officially launch Euro 2028 with an unveiling of the tournament branding and the federations in town to promote their co-operation.

Eventbrite has revealed it will be acquired by Bending Spoons, an Italian technology conglomerate, in an all-cash transaction valued at roughly $500m (£375m/€430m). December 1 – The bid book for the joint USA-Mexico-Costa Rica-Jamaica hosting of the 2031 Women’s World Cup was submitted to FIFA last Friday, projecting $4bn+ in revenue and more than 4 million fans in stadiums under the banner ‘For Now. For Next’.
The four-nation bid is the only one for 2031 hosting and promises to break all previous records for fan engagement, attendances and in terms of generating commercial revenue.

October 17 – FIFA have sold more than one million tickets for the 2026 World Cup in the first presale draw, the world governing body said on Thursday.
In a statement, FIFA wrote that “fans from 212 countries and territories of residence have already purchased over one million tickets following the closure of the Visa Presale Draw sales phase, which was launched in mid-September.”
