Here are some recent shots from the Santa Barbara Harbor Show. This library is far from definitive, but serves to tell a story of how and why I enjoy this magical little spot.

A few weekends ago I got to play with the Olympus 7-14mm 2.8 Pro lens and I LOVED it! It took a while to get comfortable with just how wide this lens is. It is super sharp and roughly the size of the Olympus 12-40mm 2.8 Pro lens. The front element is quite large though (as to be expected) and comes with a pretty awesome lens cap. I only got to spend about an hour with the lens but it was fun shooting and I added it to my buy list for on down the line. I would love to take this lens with me to somewhere like Yosemite.

Saturday night during the ‘Out of Chicago’ conference I went on a photo walk with Jamie MacDonald and Mike Boening both are Olympus trailblazers and host the Mirrorless Minutes podcast. I had been talking online to Jamie for several years and Mike in the last yearish so it was a lot of fun to be on a great photo walk with these guys.

I am doing a lot of landscape and nature photography. So I was thinking about buying a lens with a bit more zoom. There are only two options at the moment.
The XF50-140mmF2.8 R LM OIS WR and the XF55-200mmF3.5-4.8 R LM OIS. I tried both of them and decided to go with the XF55-200mm.

The macro capabilities of the Olympus 40-150mm f/2.8 are eye-opening. Coupled with the OMD EM1, I was able to capture sharp, colorful butterfly images at the Sweetbriar Nature Center. BTW, if you haven't been here, they do amazing work to care for and rehabilitate wildlife. Sue volunteered there for a while and the people who run it do an outstanding job. Places like this deserve your support. Like most places on Long Island, it gets a bit crowded on the weekends but I was there on a quiet

Panasonic's G-line of cameras, starting with G1 at 2008, signaled the beginning of the whole Micro Four Thirds system; this was, after all, the first camera in the system being announced.
Full disclosure: I never managed to stomach the G-line of cameras, concerning appearance and styling. They always felt to me like they tried too much to look like smaller modern DSLRs. In fact, I already expressed my antipathy of this style in a previous article. Panasonic even tried to introduce the ter
