Dear dead tree - ByJansen - Sony A7

Dear dead tree - ByJansen - Sony A7 | Mirrorless Cameras | Scoop.it
In the early days of my photography I had a tree which I always captured
when I started my walks. It was an old crooked oak tree in the middle of a
(corn) field. I even made a book about it with Canadian friend Daniel
Berman. It was so great that I could have this subject and work around it,
it learned me a lot about composition and working with light.. until a
summer storm came and blew the tree down.

“I loved to photograph the tree and show that every place has it’s

I see what you did there, Leica

I see what you did there, Leica | Mirrorless Cameras | Scoop.it
Perhaps the most controversial new camera release for quite some time, was
that of the new Leica SL Typ 601, just a few days ago. This is the second
(after the Leica Q) foray of the Red Dot on FF mirrorless territory, but,
in fact, their first system camera of the sort. And the second system of
that kind, after the Sony FE.

The Leica SL (type 601) Professional Mirrorless Camera Review | Mirrorless Cameras | Scoop.it
The LEICA SL (TYP 601) INTRODUCTION

By now you’ve probably heard of this new autofocus camera and system from
Leica Camera – the Leica SL. There have been rumours milling around social
networks and forums for weeks and speculation was at an all-time high. Most
of the rumours initially pointed to a new M camera, possibly with
autofocus. This rumour then changed to an interchangeable lens mirrorless
camera based on the Leica Q, which isn’t too far off. Indeed, the Q really
surprised many of

Since I work mostly with Olympus micro four thirds cameras these days, I have of course been using, and with some good results, the Panasonic/Leica 25mm 1.4 lens on my OMD’s and PEN’s. This lens offers a very sharp contrasty image with great background rendering and it has been responsible for some of my favourite images so far, on any system, a few shown below, all made with this lens, just click on an image to enlarge it and click again to scroll through in full screen.

My Fuji vs. Olympus catch-22

My Fuji vs. Olympus catch-22 | Mirrorless Cameras | Scoop.it
Regular readers of this blog would know that I use both Olympus and Fuji
cameras. I may happen to occasionally use another brand, but it will
probably be for testing/review purposes. Although I started shooting
Olympus m43 cameras exclusively more than 3 years ago, during the last year
or so I also entered the X-System and, today, use is practically equally
divided between the two.

Leica's SL: a Sony A7ii clone

Leica's SL: a Sony A7ii clone | Mirrorless Cameras | Scoop.it
I've been reading DPReview and Sony Alpha Rumours, and I'm a believer:
Leica TOTALLY copied Sony. Yep, the SL is a direct copy of the A7 and A7ii.
It's mirrorless. It's 24 megapixels. It has an interchangeable lens mount.
It has a shutter button. It has some dials. Check. Check. Check.

Freezing summer with the Fujifilm X-T1 - ByJansen

Freezing summer with the Fujifilm X-T1 - ByJansen | Mirrorless Cameras | Scoop.it
Last summer we went to the coast of Zeeland, the region situated in the
southwest of our country, near Belgium. Zeeland has always been my second
home. Since I was born I basically went there every weekend with my parents
until I was older and went on holidays abroad. Last few years my wife and I
returned a few times because we (us and the kids) really enjoy this place.

I really love the fresh wind coming from the ocean and the rhythmic sounds
the waves produce. That's one of the reasons I

Photographing Mount Rainier with the Fuji X-T1 | Mirrorless Cameras | Scoop.it
A few weeks ago I decided to take a short trip to Mount Rainier. The last time I was in the park was in 2012, but now that I live about three hours away I hope to make it a more regular getaway spot. When going on a "landscape photography" trip I would typically bring my Canon gear. I
