Are You a Good Photo Editor?

Are You a Good Photo Editor? | Mirrorless Cameras | Scoop.it
January 17, 2014 Yesterday I took a morning stroll to my neighborhood pond to see what I could find. I was lucky enough to get some close-up pictures of a red-shouldered hawk. The hawk just sat there on a limb for about 10 minutes and posed for me.

Length Of The Bridge | The Photo Frontier

Length Of The Bridge | The Photo Frontier | Mirrorless Cameras | Scoop.it

Although the Fuji X 100s has a built in internal ND filter (which is really cool) to achieve exposure times required for this photo, I had to use an additional 3 stop ND filter. The image itself was then processed in Lightroom 5 where I opened up the shadows a bit, increased the global contrast, added some structure and clarity to the clouds, burned the bottom edge, and finished off with a subtle vignette .

Fuji X Series - What's Not To Like

Fuji X Series - What's Not To Like | Mirrorless Cameras | Scoop.it

I am not at all trying to tell anyone not to by into the Fuji X system. I love it. I am glad it exists. I may jump back in sooner rather than later. What I am advocating is that you take a good hard look on a level playing field and make the right choices for you and what you actually do. Not someday. Right now. If something is bothering you about a system you are already in figure out what it is really. If you have a bunch of really giant zooms you don't have to switch systems to fix that issue for sure.

The Fabulus Aperture 3 Curves Tool - Post-processing an X100s RAW file | Mirrorless Cameras | Scoop.it

I had an email exchange with a reader and Aperture 3 user recently and suddenly realized that not all of you may have dug into it's virtues. Today I'll attempt a quick drive-by to show you a somewhat contrived illustration as to the innovation contained within.

Alex Boone Photography: Adapted Micro with the Fuji X-E1

Alex Boone Photography: Adapted Micro with the Fuji X-E1 | Mirrorless Cameras | Scoop.it

The Fuji X-E1 as some pretty cool tricks up its sleeve, for example; it doesn't have a mirror, so an adapter can be added. The adapter allows you to adapt other lenses to your Fuji. The Fuji also has focus peaking which allows you to find where your focus is when magnifying your image, which brings me the Fuji's other trick. The X-E1 can also magnify your image while your manual focusing with an adapter and it works in two stages a 3x magnification and 10x magnification.

Photographing John Schneider | Jeremy Cowart | Mirrorless Cameras | Scoop.it

Once we wrapped up his portrait session, the female walked off set and John came to me and whispered in my ear “Hey can you sneak a few more portraits of me?” and I said “sure of course”. He said “there’s something going on and I just need a photo.”

So I grabbed my camera again and John walked back on set.

He immediately began weeping. Legitimately crying...

Heather Broster's insight:

An incredible story that made me weep at the end.

X100S vs. 27mm ƒ/2.8 | Fuji vs. Fuji

X100S vs. 27mm ƒ/2.8 | Fuji vs. Fuji | Mirrorless Cameras | Scoop.it

Possibly one of the most asked about comparisons before the 23mm ƒ/1.4 was announced was how the FUJIFILM X100S with its fixed 23mm ƒ/2 lens stacked up against the FUJINON XF 27mm ƒ/2.8 on an X-E1 (or X-E2). Fuji fans wanted to know—in order to get such a small camera package—did they need to buy an X100S, or would they be ok to add the 27mm ƒ/2.8 to their current body? The interchangeable lens and body combination is quite similar in size to the X100S (assuming one is using an X-E1 or X-E2), and slightly lighter at 428g compared to 445g for the X100S. Given the FUJINON 23mm ƒ/2 lens has been honed to work as well as possible with its conjoined body, there are bound to be differences in in how these two packages perform......
