My journey to mirrorless has been a process that I equate to learning how to fly. In a sense, shooting on film with an SLR taught me how to fly; working in video taught me how to fly on instruments; shifting to mirrorless awoke my aviation instincts; and the sum of everything has made me a better pilot, er, photographer.
Nathan Wright is a professional photographer that is currently living and working in Japan and that currently uses mirrorless cameras, namely Fujifilm and So...
After an early arrival of winter in Southern Ontario I thought I’d escape it for a few hours by taking David (my Nikon 1 V2 with CX 70-300mm VR) and Goliath (my D800 with Tamron 150-600mm VC) to Bird Kingdom in Niagara Falls, Canada. Bird Kingdom features several display areas, two of which have many …
During my last trip to Italy my eye was drawn by the profound depth that colonnades create in many different cities in the North and centre of Italy. Hence a small series exploring this geometry and its relationship with the people that walk within it, probably on …
In a recent post, I described the kit I took on the most recent photo tour I led to Africa. The kit included the Fuji X-T1 and in this post, I’m going to talk about my impressions of using that X-T1 in the field, how well it performed, and whether I would bring it again. …
Sometime in May the fair rolled into my home town of Corby. As a teenager, whenever the fair would arrive, it would carry an almost mythical status, and we would flock to it the blinking, flashing neon and thumping music like moths to a flame. Mostly a place for enjoyment, we'd lose at shooting games and take home goldfish (one of which lived for a staggering 15 years). It was also laced with danger; fights, scuffles and stolen kisses.

I am getting ready for my next adventure. My goal is to climb Chulu West peak (6,419) in Himalayas. I'll be on the road for 3 weeks and this is my first major trip without DSLR. Instead I'll be accompanied by mirrorless cameras. I admit it makes me feel bit uneasy but on the other side I am sure I will not miss the bulk especially in higher altitudes. If you ask why, have a read.
So? How was the second week? Very cold, but that's not the point. Well... Sorry to disappoint you, but I'm still in love with the LX100. I tried many things against this week.
Disclaimer: Fuji loaned me the X-T1 and a two lenses (10-24mm & 55-200mm) and a cable release for 3 weeks in October/November 2014 before the v3.0 firmware update was announced or made available.
Disclaimer: I was given a free Fujifilm X100T for this review. It is a beautiful Sunday here in Dubai, and it is my day off “work”. I arrived last Wednesday from London after 2 weeks of teaching workshops, and I ended up doing a few workshops for Gulf Photo Plus (a photo organization in Dubai). …
"It's a sexy camera" my brother in law said to me while looking at it. Indeed it is, just looking at it makes you drool! But the question is, is the cam(...)
