Sensor Crop Factors and Equivalence

The subject of sensor crop factors and equivalence has become rather controversial between photographers, sparking heated debates on photography sites and forums. So much has been posted on this topic, that it almost feels redundant to write about it again. Sadly, with all the great and not-so-great information out there on equivalence, many photographers are …

background blur - Panasonic GM5 First Impressions

background blur - Panasonic GM5 First Impressions | Mirrorless Cameras | Scoop.it

That's it. Panasonic did it. They saved Micro Four Thirds in my book. They restored the format to its true calling: ultra-compact and ultra-high quality. I could not be happier with this little camera. The industry is throwing a lot of small cameras at us with various highlights, e.g. the RX100, the X100, the LX100, etc... But only the GM5 stands out for me, because of the viewfinder, and because it offers two compact lens types I really need and love: the 20/1.7 pancake and a compact, collapsible tele lens.

The question took the form of a statement in some circles, after Sony
announced the a7mk2, signaling the maturity of the format in a mirrorless
package. The new mantra is: "there can be Only One: Full Frame
Mirrorless".

These assumptions mainly come from hobbyist photogra

Sigma DP2 QUATTRO - Is this the best resolution I've ever achieved? | Mirrorless Cameras | Scoop.it
'So all in all a success story. This camera is a step up from the
Merrills for my uses and the files I can create with the DP2 Quattro
are jaw dropping. It isn't the best for dynamic range certainly, but
running the jpg. files through Adobe Camera raw helps with that. As I
said, not a camera for all situations, but used for what it's designed
to do well, slow detailed high resolution images in good light, it's
really in a class of it's own. Literally.'

THE REAL DIFFERENCE: XF56 vs XF56 APD vs FF (GUEST POST – NIKO VILLEGAS | JAN GONZALES) | RANDALL CIPRIANO . COM | Mirrorless Cameras | Scoop.it
I’ve gotten my fair share of questions regarding the XF56mm F1.2 R APD, most of which are asking what it brings to the table that the original XF56 doesn’t already. The question is quite understandable as there hasn’t really been any sample images that depict the difference of the lenses effectively. Even the marketing material that Fujifilm brought with them to show the differences wasn’t that much convincing from all the photos I’ve seen posted here on the internet of things. Just like the X
