Free Technology for Teachers: An Easy Way to Create Your Own iPad & Android Games

Free Technology for Teachers: An Easy Way to Create Your Own iPad & Android Games | TechEducation | Scoop.it
Tiny Tap is one of the free iPad and Android apps that continues to stay in my Best of the Web presentations. Whenever I show it off there is always a great response to it.

Tiny Tap allows you to create simple games based on pictures that you take. The purpose of the games you build is to help young students (pre-K through grade 4) practice identifying objects and patterns.

Microsoft has today introduced a new Minecraft Educational portal which has been specifically designed for teachers to be able to use the block building game to help their students learn.

The new Minecraft for teachers portal is still currently in the final stages of development but any teachers interested in signing up for updates can do so over on the Education Minecraft website which has been launched by Microsoft this week.

7 Online Quiz Tools Perfect For Classrooms - Edudemic | TechEducation | Scoop.it
Whether you want to have students turn in homework via an online form or simply take a quiz or test, online quiz tools are critical to having a connected classroom. Most tools are free, all are robust, and they’re quite easy to use. What could be better than that? You can use any of these below tools to get feedback from parents, students, colleagues, and more.
Carol Hancox's insight:

A somewhat dated, but still quite viable round up article on Quiz tools for online classrooms, blended classrooms, or even old school rooms with a computer in the corner!

This creative-commons licensed site is chock-full of ideas for how kids can show off what they know by CREATING it!  Very exciting.  Plus, I like that they called it "media."  Good idea.  Put the media in our own hands!

Technology can transform education, but not without people

Technology can transform education, but not without people | TechEducation | Scoop.it
Five years ago I was trying every new tech tool to come out. I was glogging with glogster. I was threading with voice thread. And I sure was writing and editing in real-time with Google Docs! But the technology was not transforming me. It was not transforming my classroom, because it was just technology.
