Sustainable supply chains: why placing ethics over profits pays off

Sustainable supply chains: why placing ethics over profits pays off | Supply Chain & Transportation | Scoop.it

Companies may talk about ethical supply chains but if they don't independently audit suppliers and monitor the performance of their CSR policies, nothing will change. A few companies have seen strong financial success from supply chain efforts, from both market differentiation - Lush cosmetics - and cost savings - PepsiCo's savings of $60m in energy. Effective auditing not only sends a strong message to suppliers, it increases transparency and helps identify problems that need remedying.

Aquarium trade takes steps to clean up fishy supply chains

Aquarium trade takes steps to clean up fishy supply chains | Supply Chain & Transportation | Scoop.it

The tropical fish trade has many impacts to fish populations and delicate ecosystems. There are some initiatives underway to improve traceability and even a SMART certification label. Better hope still is in a move to aquaculture rather than impacting wild fish. But the local fishermen that supply the industry must be considered - take away their livelihood and they will likely turn to another unsustainable fishing practice. So the focus of these efforts should be engaging both local fishermen and the aquarium hobbyist in conservation practices.
