Interesting to see these numbers. Is this because of streaming? What are your thoughts....

This blows my mind . Music mastering technology is becoming an extension of the cloud now? LANDR is in my opinion, going to revolutionize the music industry. The days of spending thousands of dollars and waiting hours or days for you mastering to be completed are over. www.fastcolabs.com isn't a major news source but they seem to be pretty reliable after some research in the audio production industry. They always a reliable source for the best new tech available. ![]()

LANDR is an automatic mastering software making it easy for the recording process of music. I hate how technology is making it way in to the music industry because it will put many people out of a job, but this app is a really good one. Mastering is by far the hardest part in the music process and now this tech has a range of hearing that surpasses human abilities.

People enjoy the convenience of having access to all the types of music that they like, this causes them to be drawn to streaming music because everything is at the click of a button.

It is insane. The artists spent years developing their musical skills and style, shouldn’t they be compensated? I understand major record labels are doing distribution and marketing, but it doesn’t mean they should take nearly all the money from the profit. It seems counter-productive, how many artists will stay if another label actually compensates appropriately? I think it is quite unfair, and horrible business practice. The major record labels are blatantly taking advantage of the artists. The artists should stand up and fight for their rights! This article was written by Mike Masnick. Techdirt is a great information resource for professionals. ![]()

This article gives insights on how “transparent” labels really are about their profits in efforts to keep majority of the revenue an artist acquires as well as provides images of pie charts showing the share of streaming revenue and the post tax payout between artist, labels, platforms, songwriters/publishers, and taxes. I think there is a lot of re working the industry has to do around numbers being that we are in a different era than we use to be. Things are changing and so should the pay in my opinion. The author stated who he was and the source of his information as well as his opinion. I believe these articles tend to sound biased because some artist prefer labels and are doing well off while others believe they are being scammed.

Question is: what made them by this song ? and how much of people listening to songs on youtube actually still "buy" a song ?

In their efforts to attack piracy and incorporate preventive measures, the labels are considering moving music release dates from Tuesday to instead Friday as early as July 2015; they're hoping this change would help reduce the piracy traffic. |
