Le réseau social a annoncé jeudi un bénéfice de 91 millions de dollars pour le quatrième trimestre 2017, une première dans l'histoire de l'entreprise.

Twitter a annoncé jeudi avoir dégagé son premier bénéfice net trimestriel, ce qui a immédiatement dopé l'action du réseau social, dont le modèle économique fait régulièrement l'objet de débats. La société, qui perdait de l'argent depuis son introduction en Bourse en 2013, a dégagé au quatrième trimestre 2017 un bénéfice net se montant à un peu plus de 91 millions de dollars.
Son chiffre d'affaires sur la période a atteint 732 millions de dollars, en hausse de 2% sur un an. «Nous avons atteint notre objectif de rentabilité» et réalisé une «fin d'année solide», s'est félicité le patron Jack Dorsey dans un communiqué. Dans les échanges électroniques avant l'ouverture de Wall Street, l'action Twitter bondissait de 19,66% à 32,20 dollars vers 13h GMT (14h au Luxembourg). Twitter’s 280 character limit has now been rolled out to everyone. In this post I’ll give you a few tweet ideas on how you can use the new update for your brand or business.
Personally, I really liked the 140 character limit, and after being in this industry for some time, I'd gotten good at chopping down long-form text to fit the platform's restrictions. I loved the challenge, and I also think it's been a big part of the appeal of Twitter - you know you're logging on to short thoughts and not long rants. Kriminelle versenden derzeit vermehrt E-Mails, die angeblich von WhatsApp stammen. Den Empfängern wird darin vorgegaukelt, ihr Konto für den Messenger-Dienst werde bald ablaufen. In der E-Mail werden die Opfer unter Druck gesetzt und aufgefordert, eine Zahlung zu leisten, damit das WhatsApp-Konto bestehen bleibt. Es handelt sich hierbei um eine sogenannte Phishing-Attacke, mit der die Betrüger an persönliche Daten ihrer Opfer gelangen wollen.
Aktuelle Berichte zu der betrügerischen E-Mail stammen von Internetseiten wie Netzwelt, aber auch die österreichische Seite Mimikama berichtete schon vor einer Weile davon. Angeblicher H&M-Gutschein: Klicken Sie auf keinen Fall auf diesen Link!!!
Mit 250 Euro lässt sich bei H&M gut einkaufen. Betrüger wollen sich das derzeit zu Nutze machen und verschicken über WhatsApp Kettenbriefe, die einen vermeintlichen Gutscheinim Wert von 250 Euro versprechen, wie die Webseite "onlinewarnungen.de" berichtet. Den versprochenen Einkaufsgutschein gibt es aber nicht.
Denn die schwedische Modekette hat mit der massenhaft auf WhatsApp verbreiteten Nachricht nichts zu tun. Nutzer sollten deshalb auf keinen Fall auf den Link klicken. So sieht die Nachricht aus:

Twitter has committed to a specific timeline for rolling out changes to its Safety features and announced new policies including a ban on hateful display names, and improvements for second-hand “witness reporting” of abuse.
By January Twitter plans to have implemented all the abuse changes outlined in the internal email published by Wired earlier this week, as well as the new ones shared today. The company even apologized for frequently promising improvements but then failing to take action, writing “Far too often in the past we’ve said we’d do better and promised transparency but have fallen short in our efforts.”

Twitter, the social network that redefined the term "information overload," is working on a feature that'll make it easier to bookmark those cool tweets that deserve a second look.
Announced by several key Twitter employees, including product VP Keith Coleman, the new feature could be called "save for later."

Mais, depuis plusieurs années grâce au web 2.0 des citoyens se sont aussi lancés bénévolement dans cette mission et affichent avec constance et efficacité des informations concernant leur environnement, en utilisant différents outils du web et des réseaux sociaux. Ils construisent ainsi une image de la vie de leur commune, de leur vallée, de leur ville et participent activement à leur «e-reputation »
Cet article met en valeur quatre exemples de territoires qui depuis plusieurs années bénéficient de cette activité citoyenne, quasi principale de leurs auteurs, ou activité secondaire d‘une activité de principale de veille centrée sur d’autres intérêts. Giving you more characters to express yourself. Trying to cram your thoughts into a Tweet – we’ve all been there, and it’s a pain. Interestingly, this isn't a problem everywhere people Tweet. For example, when I (Aliza) Tweet in English, I quickly run into the 140 character limit and have to edit my Tweet down so it fits. Sometimes, I have to remove a word that conveys an important meaning or emotion, or I don’t send my Tweet at all. But when Iku Tweets in Japanese, he doesn’t have the same problem. He finishes sharing his thought and still has room to spare. This is because in languages like Japanese, Korean, and Chinese you can convey about double the amount of information in one character as you can in many other languages, like English, Spanish, Portuguese, or French. We want every person around the world to easily express themselves on Twitter, so we're doing something new: we're going to try out a longer limit, 280 characters, in languages impacted by cramming (which is all except Japanese, Chinese, and Korean). SAN FRANCISCO — Twitter’s defining attribute has long been its brevity: 140 characters in a post and no more.
That is now set to change. Twitter said on Tuesday that it would test extending the text limit of a post on its service to 280 characters. (In effect, that would double the length of the first two sentences of this paragraph; those sentences, for the record, add up to 140 characters.)
Twitter said the goal was to eliminate what it views as constraints that keep people from tweeting more frequently. One significant barrier, according to Twitter’s internal research, has been the stringent limit on character count.
“When people don’t have to cram their thoughts into 140 characters and actually have some to spare, we see more people tweeting,” Twitter said in a blog post.
It is a significant moment for the 11-year-old Twitter, which has been trying to figure out how to change the social media service without alienating the people who have embraced its short format. (Reuters) — Facebook Inc is buying a software firm that specializes in authenticating government-issued identification cards, the two companies said on Tuesday, a step that may help the social media company learn more about the people who buy ads on its network.
U.S. lawmakers have expressed alarm at Facebook’s limited ability to know who is buying advertisements, including election-related ads, on the world’s largest social network.
Boston-based Confirm Inc, which is privately held, said on its website that the acquisition was the culmination of three years of work to build technology to keep people safe online.
Facebook said in a statement Confirm’s “technology and expertise will support our ongoing efforts to keep our community safe.”

Twitter is cracking down on hate speech and not just by looking at its own site.
In what amounts to a major shift in Twitter policy, the company announced on Friday that it will be monitoring user's behavior "on and off the platform" and will suspend a user's account if they affiliate with violent organizations, according to an update to Twitter's Help Center on Friday.
"You also may not affiliate with organizations that — whether by their own statements or activity both on and off the platform — use or promote violence against civilians to further their causes," the update reads.
Twitter isn't taking action immediately. Rather, it's given users until December 18, 2017 when it will then begin enforcing the rule. The month-long wait is due to regulations in the European Union that require companies to inform users of a new policy change 30 days prior to enforcement.
The Dec. 18 deadline also applies to using "hateful images or symbols" in profile images or profile headers. Twitter will also monitor for hate speech in usernames, display names, and profile bios. Wie die Masche funktioniert, ist schnell erklärt: Männliche Facebook-User erhalten Anfragen von weiblichen Nutzerinnen. Es sind dabei nicht irgendwelche Frauen, sondern immer höchst attraktive, leicht bekleidete Damen, die laut Profil zufällig auch noch ganz in der Nähe wohnen.
Auf ihren Profilseiten bieten die Frauen in Posts Live-Shows und kostenlose Chats mit "Webcamgirls" an. Dafür muss man nur auf einen Link klicken, der in den Posts zu finden ist - was Sie keinesfalls tun sollten!

Mit WhatsApp Business soll es in Zukunft eine WhatsApp-Version speziell für Unternehmen geben. Bei einer im Play Store aufgetauchten Version davon handelt es sich allerdings um eine Fälschung. Entwickler mit unlauteren Absichten haben im Play Store eine WhatsApp-Version veröffentlicht, die den Namen "Whatsapp Business" trägt. Dabei handelt es sich aber mitnichten um die angekündigte Unternehmens-Version von WhatsApp, sondern schlicht im eine Fälschung, die gutgläubige Nutzer zur Installation verleiten soll. Allzu viele Facebook-Nutzer dürften es noch nicht mitbekommen haben: In den vergangenen Tagen hat Facebook nach mehreren Tests einen zweiten Newsfeed in die Apps und die Web-Version integriert. Der "Explore Feed" lässt sich in der deutschsprachigen Variante recht versteckt über "Entdecker-Feed" links in der "Entdecken"-Sidebar aufrufen.
Im Explore Feed zeigt Facebook Inhalte, die nicht von Freunden oder abonnierten Seiten stammen. Algorithmen sorgen dafür, dass Nutzer hier präsentiert bekommen, was sie anhand ihrer analysierten Gewohnheiten interessieren könnte. Whatsapp lässt Aufenthaltsort über längere Zeiträume teilen
Wer ist wo auf dem Musikfestival oder beim Shoppen? Das können Nutzer von Whatsapp nun kontinuierlich live verfolgen. Der Hersteller sagt, dass der Datenschutz dabei gewährleistet sei.
Der zu Facebook gehörende Kurzmitteilungsdienst Whatsapp gibt Nutzern die Möglichkeit, ihre Aufenthaltsorte für bis zu acht Stunden miteinander zu teilen. Dabei seien die Ortsdaten komplett verschlüsselt und nur für die teilnehmenden Nutzer sichtbar, betonte Whatsapp-Manager Zafir Khan zum Start der Funktion am 18. Oktober 2017. Am heutigen 1. Oktober tritt das Netzwerkdurchsetzungsgesetz (NetzDG) in Kraft. Strafbare Inhalte sollen damit schneller aus sozialen Netzwerken verschwinden. Sowohl die Behörden als auch Facebook haben personell bereits aufgestockt.
Am heutigen 1. Oktober tritt das Netzwerkdurchsetzungsgesetz (NetzDG) – oft auch "Facebook-Gesetz" genannt – in Kraft. Das Gesetz soll Anbieter sozialer Netzwerke dazu bringen, "offenkundig strafbare Inhalte" nach spätestens 24 Stunden zu löschen, wenn sie davon Kenntnis haben. Dieser Teil des Gesetzes soll erst nach einer Übergangsphase von drei Monaten angewandt werden.
Für die Prüfung von weniger eindeutig rechtswidrigen Inhalten haben die Plattformbetreiber nun sieben Tage Zeit. Stellt sich heraus, dass die Betreiber systemische Mängel aufweisen, die die Umsetzung des NetzDG verhindern, drohen bis zu 50 Millionen Euro Bußgeld. For the first time in its 11-year history, Twitter will lift the 140-character limit for tweets — at least for some people.
The company announced Tuesday that it would begin testing a new limit of 280 characters for all languages except Japanese, Chinese, and Korean. The change will only be seen by a small percentage of Twitter users at first before it's potentially made available broadly.
