Drivers in Yorkshire face a delay of 36 minutes for every hour they drive in peak periods, according to a new study by satellite navigation firm TomTom.
The TomTom Congestion Index looked at 31 cities across Europe with populations of more than 800,000.
Warsaw in Poland was named the most congested city in Europe with journey times up to 89% longer in morning rush-hour and an average of 42% longer at all times.
A similar study covering 26 cities in North America finds Los Angeles to be the most congested city.
