"Cara, a system that’s already under test in various retail stores and malls. Fashioned by a team of eight engineers at Sosa’s New York-based startup, IMRSV, this new-age creation uses simple cameras, including web cams, to detect faces and other discerning personal features, and the hope is that businesses can use this information to hone their operations, including, perhaps, tailoring digital advertisements to suit particular types of people.
The tool is just one of several new contraptions that tap cameras in public spaces, using “computer vision” algorithms to track what people are up to — and respond accordingly. Another New York-based startup, Placemeter, is using urban cameras — including street traffic cams — to give the average consumer a way of determining how crowded it might be when they turn up at a local store, restaurant, or some other public place. ...

"Researchers at NC State have developed a way to print liquid metals into 3D structures at room temperature. The structures are stabilized by a thin oxide 'skin' that forms on the liquid metal. The approaches shown here represent new ways to direct write metals in 3D. In addition, the resulting components can, in principle, self-heal ( "Self-healing stretchable wires" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lfAOEt...) and be ultra-stretchable ( "Ultra-stretchable wires" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QlVuIK...).
The paper, "3D Printing of Free Standing Liquid Metal Microstructures," is published online in Advanced Materials. For more information, visit http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10....

QR codes are everywhere, and lead users' mobile phones to a website or email address. They are not particularly attractive, and something about them is beginning to feel very "first generation" limited. Now a new company called UBleam has taken the idea of printed digital codes a giant step further, and if it catches on, could make QR codes obsolete. The code appears in a ring of attractive bubbles that fit neatly around any round logo or artwork, and offers a company a wide array of customization options in how codes work for an individual user.
We now offer a full line of research cameras from low cost entry level to high end research. There is a choice for every budget covering a vast spectrum of needs.
