China’s Huge 3D Printers, Soon Able to Print Automobile Sized Metal Objects

China’s Huge 3D Printers, Soon Able to Print Automobile Sized Metal Objects | qrcodes et R.A. | Scoop.it

One of the biggest possible economic impacts of 3D printing  to the U.S. economy is the fact that it may eventually allow corporations to bring jobs back onshore from China. The United States outsources a large number of jobs over to Asia as a way to cut labor costs. 3D printing and robotics promises to change some of this, as companies can utilize industrial scale 3D printers and automation to manufacture parts for their products, cheaper than even the labor force in China can produce them. That’s if, of course China lags behind in their adoption of these technologies.

| Scoop.it

Title: From Human to Cyborg? Custom-designed Enhanced Prosthetics Are in Our Future

Author: Graham Noble

Date: February 5, 2014

Main Idea: The creation of bionic prosthetics that not only restore physical ability, but perform better than the originals could be seen in the near future.

Summary:

1. The development of exoskeletons and "smart" armor that are designed to enhance soldiers' protection and physical capability is currently being worked on by the military.

2. Neural interfacing aims to work in ways that the central nervous system can control the operation of a prosthetic and even receive sensory information from it.

3. 3D printing technology can help make artificial limbs more affordable and also allows for nearly limitless customization of prosthetics.

Opinion/POV: I didn't see an opinion nor POV in this article.

Question: How would a bionic prosthetic function?

Is this article important to science? Why?

Yes, I believe this article is important to science because it talks about the future of technology in prosthetics.

Title: From Human to Cyborg? Custom-designed, Enhanced Prosthetics Are in Our Future

Author: Graham Noble

Main Idea: Prosthetics can not only help to enhance your ability to move but can also enhance it with the help of new technology

Summary:

1)This article is about limb replacement for people who want to enhance their ability to move better

2)The development of exoskeletons and 'smart' armor were designed to perform better than the originals: faster, stronger, more dexterous and more precise than it’s organic predecessor.

3)3D technology can also help make the prosthetics more affordable, thus more popular

Opinion: The article was mostly based on facts, so I don't think was any opinions.

Questions: How much does it cost to get a prosthetic object? How many people already have this product?

Is this article important to science?: Yes, because it helps improves peoples lives, and results from using this product can help scientists, or researchers, in the future. With all of the information that that receive from the people who use the product, it can help further them into building even better prosthetics.

| Scoop.it

Via Alcofribas, juandoming
luiy's curator insight, February 5, 2014 6:36 AM
