Château Brown, a Pessac-Léognan grand cru, is now the most recent among many Bordeaux estates that are bringing QR codes into the mainstream for wine marketing, as it has added one of the two dimensional barcodes to its labels. Beyond the autumn 2012 bottles themselves, the QR codes are also being added advertising materials that are being distributed now; particularly for the Château Brown 2011 white and 2010 red. Microsoft Hong Kong is celebrating the first anniversary of the launch of Kinect for Xbox 360 with a purple and pink Kinect pop up café located in Caroline Hill Road, Causeway Bay. Families can play game demos while eating light meals or take afternoon tea with QR Code cookies (image below), not Microsoft Tag cookies which is unsurprising. What is surprising is that the QR Code resolves to a difficult to navigate, dull and non-celebratory webpage. Wake up Microsoft marketing! Via QRious CODE |

AR technologies can do a lot of cool things, especially for small businesses. AR-based mobile applications essentially translate the digital experience to the offline world, overlaying contextual information on top of live video streams. For example, a shopper could enter a brick-and-mortar retailer, hold their phone in front of an item and access location-specific product details, prices, store discounts and customer reviews. Consumers could even "try on" the latest fashions or watch step-by-step instructional videos on how to install a new appliance. Via Gary Hayes

"Marketers fall in love with tools and forget the reality of how they're used," said Ms. Robertson at AKQA. The appeal to marketers is clear. Implementing the codes is far less expensive than developing a proprietary app. They offer the ability to measure consumer activity and can provide shoppers with information, freeing up salespeople and increasing productivity. But what's the risk of the many QR codes that are unhelpful, don't work or are so complicated that it would be easier to enter a URL? Via QRious CODE
Saying that video/TV content is becoming even more fragmented is an understatement. As a consumer I can watch incredible amounts of content across multiple screens from differing sources and this is growing with increased technology, as many certainly know from my numerous Connected TV articles.
