I just found out about PingTags, a service that lets you connect to your LinkedIn Profile and generate a QR code for people to scan. When you’re done linking your LinkedIn profile to PingTags, simply right-click (or ctrl-click on a mac) and save the file to your desktop, and you can print it, throw it on other places, and then see who connects and makes use of your mobile-formatted LinkedIn profile.

This is part of my continuing series of blogs about how I am integrating mobile learning into my undergraduate course on interpersonal relations. There are a dozen students in the class. Ten of them are in the 17 to 21 year old age range. The other two are over 35 years old. All of them own mobile devices – four of them being Smart Devices (iPhone, Android). Three of them bring their personal laptops to class. The following activity was part of a three-hour class on nonverbal behaviors. Even though the example describes how this activity was used with the different types of nonverbal behaviors, it can be used with any topic that has categories or classifications. Following up on my previous post I noticed another article on Mind/Shift called What if robots taught kids. A survey had asked children from countries around the world the following question; “What if robots were part of your everyday life – at school and beyond?” The answers were very positive including the fact that 75% of them saw teaching robots as patient and supportive in educational contexts. Marcus (d12dozr), one of SCF Top SketchUcator’s, has shared his experiences in the field of 3D printing telling us, ‘This is a project I’m finally happy to show ya’ll, modeled entirely in Sketchup. I made an early version of this model for a 3D printing contest over a year ago. I didn’t win the contest, and hit upon this better version after the contest was over, but the experience introduced me to the possibilities of 3D printing. I was hooked, and since then have designed and printed a dozen or so different models – some for myself, and some for clients that had an idea for a product but not the modeling skills necessary to make it. Don’t get me wrong, there are some great applications available but these are exceptions rather than the norm. Next week I am speaking at a conference on how AR can be used. As I search for demos, bar a handful of new apps, I find myself returning to the same apps I have demoed for the last few years. The savour of AR is long thought to be AR glasses. Almost on a weekly basis I see screenshots of futurist contact lenses and all encompassing portable glasses systems rumoured to be ready for release sometime soon. The technology isn’t even here yet and already its been hyped to a level where it will be impossible for it to live up to. If next year you think you’ll be reaching for a pair of AR glasses for your journey to work, you’re in for disappointment. AR glasses are not going to save AR, the killer app is going to save it. In my research here in Atlanta, GA USA most mobile AR apps are in beta, not on the market; also apps not being tested by larger groups of consumers who may influence more investors to sustain the production pipeline from idea to beta to full release. The killer app won't happen unless companies find a way to bridge the gap between engagement and investment.
